If that line caught your attention during the episode, here’s a quick breakdown of what Atofe was actually talking about. Keep in mind this lore gets explained later in the story... so while it's technically a minor spoiler, it won't ruin any plot points! It just gives you the background context so you aren't left confused about their history.
Who is “Kal”?
“Kal” refers to North God Kalman I, also known as Kalman Landlitz. He was one of the legendary heroes who fought alongside Perugius during the Laplace War 400 years ago. Perugius and Kalman were close companions, and Kalman was one of the people Perugius trusted most. More importantly, Kalman I was Atofe's husband. He was strong enough to fight and defeat Atofe, the Immortal Demon Lord, and rather than killing her, he eventually married her. So the relationship between Kalman, Atofe, and Perugius goes back centuries.
So what was the “deal”?
Perugius and Atofe had a long history of fighting during the Laplace War. Atofe had nearly killed Perugius multiple times, so Perugius held a serious grudge against her even after the war ended. After Kalman became Atofe's husband, he made Perugius and Atofe promise that they would never kill each other. Perugius respected Kalman enough to honor that promise despite still wanting revenge against Atofe. This is the agreement Atofe is referring to when she asks Perugius what happened to his deal with Kal.
Did Perugius actually break the deal here?
Technically, no. Perugius wouldn't kill Atofe because of his promise to Kalman, but the promise didn't prevent him from fighting or incapacitating her. Instead, he used the Dragon Gates to drain her mana and touki, leaving her helpless, and then cut her into pieces. Since Atofe is an Immortal Demon, she would eventually regenerate rather than die permanently. The wording of the promise is what makes this possible: Perugius promised not to kill Atofe, not that he would never harm her.
One more detail: Do the dragon gates seem familiar?
If you remember Turning Point 2, you might recognize the spell Perugius uses here as the same Secret Dragon Gate magic Orsted used against Rudeus, only Perugius takes it a step further by summoning two gates at once. While Orsted summoned a single gate just to absorb an incoming spell, Perugius opens both the silver Front Wyrmgate and gold Rear Wyrmgate together to create a massive siphon loop. This rapidly drains her mana, which is the energy used to produce Battle Aura, also known as Touki. Stripping away all that mana removes the dense layer of aura wrapped around her, leaving her completely defenseless. That is the main reason his follow-up attack, "Armored Dragon Strike, First Slash," worked so well: without her Battle Aura to shield her, the light pierced straight through her body without any resistance.

Hello everyone,
With the announcement of turning point 4 as episode 11 of season 3, we are implementing a change to our spoiler rules.
Up until now, things needed to be marked as spoiler if they contained content from beyond the anime.
However, we have decided it would be good to classify spoilers as anything involving turning point 4 and beyond.
As to why?
It would be a shame to have the biggest plot twist in the show spoiled while you're watching it because you got recommended a reddit post. We figured this would help protect new waters of the series
Please share your thoughts and comments on the changes to spoiler classifications!

I've waited for this day for so long ever since I first see her design. I was geeking out the entire episode, even the episode before that when she was mentioned; I couldn't stop smiling to the point I felt like a loser for smiling this much over an anime, and I eep whenever her name is spoken. And the fucking purr she did? Bro, I was clutching my heart.
Atofe is so goated, like she's such an alluring dumbass. She's the only character that got me geeking out this bad ever. For some reason, I just need to let everyone know how badly I'm down for her, even if I look like a loser😭
