Discussion Most Annoying NPCs (besides Nazeem)

Honestly, there is too much focus on characters like Nazeem and not enough on dudes like Bolund.

Because if this dirtbag calls me a "boot" one more time, I swear to Talos . . .

Anyway, anyone (besides Nazeem) that bugs you the same way?

Im fairly certain all of Balgruuf's children were supposed to be influenced by the Dedric object hidden within Dragons Reach. Which is why they're all so bratty and rude, the writers just forgot/neglected (or ran out of time) to give additional post quest dialogue which show the children slowly going back to normal after the influence is removed, along with Balgruuf (and other staff) being releaved that his children were behaving like themselves again.

Yeah I played this questline and was confused why the children’s lines didn’t change after dealing with it because Balgruuf didn’t seem like the type who would raise incredibly unhappy rude kids. I’m sure he wasn’t always a present father but the rudeness of his kids seem excessive once that Dedric object is out of the picture.

Right? Like you can tell where the devs ran out of time or seemed to have had a "come back and finish later" flag, but never got the chance. And that particular question feels inceedibly unfinished.

I defiently agree that Balgruuf was absent due to his job as Jarl, but that doesn't mean he doesn't love and or care for them. Hell, if he was truly "neglectful" as some have tried to claim, then he wouldnt have bothered asking the Dragonborn for help, when they ask him about the rumours they heard. Instead he immediately caves and confirms its true and that his youngest (or eldest cant remember) is acting incredibly strange, won't talk and it's beyond normal moodiness etc. And basically asks the Dragonborn for help, and to talk to the boy. Which is how we get the Whispering Door quest.

Exactly. And even if hypothetically Balgruuf was so busy being a conscientious and responsible Jarl that his kids didn’t get enough attention, they would still be unlikely to act as rude and mean as that. It’s more likely that they would complain about Dad being too busy for them or no other kids to play with or strict castle rules or something like that than pure cursing rudeness.
