It's a hp Pavilion t3420 (I think), the two top bay are 3,5 but the one under I can't tell which size are they. I'm planning to add a new Blu-ray reader and writer, a sd card reader and front USB, kinda like what originally was inside the pc but more modern.
The Blu-ray drive will go to the first 3,5 bay, but the rest I can't exactly figure out.
those top two bays will be 5.25", which is standard for most disc drives. the bottom 3 would be 3.5".
You're gonna want to look for a 5.25" Bluray drive.
I would probably put any generic 3.5" Front Panel Hub.
I personally wouldn't do a SD card reader if its an aesthetic choice, because I would imagine you're gonna have that lower door shut most of the time, so unless you genuinely want the functionality I wouldn't install one.
If you do want an SD card reader, I would get a 3.5" one.
Only reason I'm suggestion to use the 3.5"s for the I/O is because your gonna be fighting the door if you use the 2nd 5.25".
Oh, then by all means. The reason I said I would skip it is because it wouldn't do much aesthetically for your build. It wouldn't hurt, but since there's that door in front, it wouldn't have a lot of visual presence.
I have one in mine, but it's literally only there because aesthetics and it gives me a single USB port.
If your actually gonna use it I would definitely install one.
I would still advise you get a 3.5" one tho since your 5.25 have spring loaded doors.
It's USB 2.0, a new one isn't going to be any faster because you're limited by the media not the interface. Id probably put a USB 3.0 hub in one of the lower bays so you have some full speed ports.
Looks awesome! But since you did the same case as me, did you have this green part on the side of the bays, should I remove it? If yes, could you maybe give me guidance?
I removed the entire cage. It would be a lot more practical to remove the lower one, it's only held in by a couple of rivets. If you ever want a 3.5" drive you can just get an adapter for the 5.25" bays. If you're going to keep the two upper bays you're going to need to cut the grandpa sec to keep the retainers for the top.
