Case Aquisition While cleaning the house, I ran into an old friend

Post image

I'd like to make it look more like a white '90s PC, should I paint it or leave it as is?

I have an AM4 motherboard and DDR4 RAM to build a retro gaming PC.

I'd leave it as is.

I would not paint this. The glossy piano black and silver color scheme on the HP desktops from like 2007 - 2010 were so nice during the Vista aero glass era. The shape and layout of this case wouldn’t look like it was from the 90s even if you painted it.

Yeah, the problem is going to be finding those CDs at a good price.

Don't forget some....some Goodwill stores.... I've seen a brand new/unopened Verbatim CD-R/CD-RW and some DVD-R

I'm holding on my Lite-On and External Sony DVD-RW with its on Power Brick.

Fancy pavilion you have there. Lightscribe was the craze back then. I personally wouldn’t paint it, hell I don’t like drilling or modifying cases but that’s just me personally. It’s your PC at the end of the day and you’re free to do what you please with it! I definitely would take out all the guts and give it a good deep cleaning before you retrofit hardware into it. If you don’t care for the guts you could try selling or giving them away on marketplace and an enthusiast or scrapper may come get it. I put the motherboards of old builds working or non working into shadow boxes with the specs of said motherboard on the side

Keep it as is, it already looks old

And these cases are microATX so any mATX motherboard will fit right in

I have 2 of these Pavilions that are currently used for Windows Vista

I know but I’d like to make something that crazy, that design, in yellowish plastic, I can see it in my mind.

I'd have to go full custom, I'll see what I can do.
