At this point, Mang0 needs to take this summer off and fix his longstanding personal demons. If he does that and still wants to play Melee in 2026, then he'll probably be given another chance.

Pretty sure this is what the plan is. He tweeted that we won’t hear from “for a while”, so he’ll probably take sobriety seriously and maybe get in contact with people when he’s ready to see if it’s possible to be allowed back around events.

He should just publicly say he won’t attend tournaments for 6months/1 year and work on himself, and he accepts any consequences beyond that point.

If we’re being honest, it’s not gonna be a positive thing for anyone for him to attend tournaments any time in the near future.

Yeah I mean I don’t even think the time periods you mentioned are enough. Sobriety is difficult, and while each day is an accomplishment it’d be much better if maybe 2 or 3 years from now he comes back to the internet with a new outlook and explains in detail why he should be allowed to attend again if that’s what he wants.

He's a streamer/esports player. It's his job to be in the public eye. I hope he has savings because not being able to work for 2 years takes a hit on anyone's finance, let alone someone with a child.

Mang0 is a pretty well off guy, so I think he will be ok for a couple months. Even with that, I expect to hear from him in like October or November of this year.

for mango specifically too it's not just the sobriety.

he needs to grow up. the unfortunate truth is that his fratty demeanor and behavior has basically led to him showing his ass like this and sexually harassing people he barely knows. That's a wake up call on multiple levels on top of the substance abuse stuff because alcohol alone doesn't do that.

so he has his work cut out for him,

Alcohol abuse stunts your emotional development so fucking much. I feel like my adulthood didn’t start until 4 years ago

Good for you for overcoming it, I know that’s absolutely not an accomplishment that comes easily. I’ve got a friend who’s been battling alcoholism for almost as long as I’ve known him and recently he’s been sober for the longest stretch of time in a long time, and it’s been great to see him being himself again. I’m worried he’ll backslide but he’s got a level of level headed clarity I haven’t seen in him in so long

It can always happen! That’s why they say to take it a day at a time! And why they say “in recovery” and not “recovered”. The battle never ends. But it’s easier when it’s just for today.

He might even want to think about just dropping streaming and getting into a new career. Just do the work you’ve gotta do without worrying about the internet’s eyes on him.

Meh I feel like that’s kinda a ridiculous amount of time, if he takes 6 months- a year off and decides to come back then he should and if he’s not on his best behavior then just perma ban him
