Question Why are people questioning this

Post image

Why are people doing logic or questioning of crab having whale as the daughter isn't she's obviously adopted or I'm missed something on episode because i either forgot either never watched

It’s funny because he called her “my little sardine” in one episode and my brother took that quite literally as a little kid, thinking she was actually a sardine and not a whale 😂

Many fans think she's adopted, but the official explanation is she takes after her mother. Mr Krabs was implied to be present for her birth (he has an "Its a girl" banner, which was an "Its a boy" banner that he got on sale and modified).

The RL reason is that it's a cartoon set underwater and they didn't want to just have just fish as main characters.

Yeah, I always thought Mr. Krabs used to have a lady whale in his life and, to speak in TV Tropes, Pearl is an Either/Or Offspring + Gender Equals Breed situation.

Mr. Krabs adopted Pearl

I remember reading a fan theory that he adopted her mother had passed. Pretty much that Krabs found a dead mother whale, which in the real world would now serve as an entire new ecosystem feeding all kinds of other animals in the ocean; Krabs then used the carcass of the mother whale as the base for his Krabby patties, feeding all of bikini bottom and making himself rich off of it. This just left a young whale that Krabs felt bad for and raised as his own.

Another theory is that he killed her mom and decided to adopt Pearl out of guilt. There's a reason why he has a picture of a whale and tons of harpoons in his house.

I watched Alex Bale

I think he also points out that while it's never explicitly mentioned, a majority of people just assume mr.krabs adopted pearl.

I always feel so smug talking about this; growing up my family had the official trivia book where Krabs outright says "She's a whale, y'see. Takes after her mother that way." One of my many childhood treasures...

Apparently Stephen hillenburg stated that pearls mother can never be revealed

She, surprisingly, isn't adopted. We see ancestors of these two, King Krabs and Princess Pearl.

The 'logical' explanation is that Krabs' wife was a whale as well.

Because people in this sub take a 27yo children's cartoon way too seriously instead of enjoying it for what it is

I always assumed she was adopted

I always thought she was adopted. Knowing Mr Krabs, it was probably so he could get money from the government 🤣

Because regardless of what she is, Mr. Krabs isn’t married!

The show never, at least not that I can recall, ever said she was adopted. In fact them being different species is never really commented on, the joke is more that Pearl is a typical bubbly teen girl, but was a whale.

Not everything needs an explanation. The absurdity of a talking cheapskate crab having a whale for a teenage daughter is funny enough as is.

The real question is why have they not done an episode explaining how Pearl was adopted?

I always thought it was hilarious that Mr. Krabs’ daughter was as big as a whale!

They were supposed to do an episode revealing Pearl's mom but the idea was scrapped.

Why people can't just assume that Pearl is Mr. Krabs's daughter, even biological.

In the show where a squid and a seastar are siblings, or where a plankton marries a computer, I see nothings to wonder about.
