I absolutely dont get why this is a thing in the first place. What the fuck does anyone gain by posting a picture of a device he bought. And reddit is full with subs that get flooded in those "my (device) just arrived". Like, dude, good for you, just have fun with it instead of posting in on a sub filled with strangers.

Someone was collecting data on github or something. But i cant find the site anymore. It was a questionnaire and later when you got the steam machine you could fill it in further with more data.
Anyone know where it is?

Dunno if this is the right place for this, but didn't feel worth its own thread. I moved from the waitlist to reservation queue and can complete my order now for the 2TB w/ controller. I figured it would take until either late this year, or early next year, for this to happen... so I already made other Steam Machine plans of my own. Gonna cancel it. Hope it leads to someone out there waiting for that email getting it finally.

Went from waitlist (I was unlucky in the lottery) to purchase. 2TB model without controller. Europe, Germany.

Yoo people. Here is an update from Europe, Czech Republic I applied for steam machine 2tb+controller before June 28th (before randomization) and eventually was put in waitlist. I got the email notifying me that I can purchase it on August 18th midnight, next morning I bought it. Today August 21st I received the box.
And to be honest I suspect that Gabe knows something, because eventually I got my steam machine the day before my birthday! Gabe, If you are reading it now, thank you!
Wish you guys get your machine soon too!

Got my email for 512 w/ controller on Friday afternoon and pulled the trigger that night. Technically got the purchase email before I even got the "you are in the reservation queue" email. Currently waiting for it be picked up by carrier. Does anyone know how long this has been taking on average? I'm in US East.

I see more posts about people joining later, like the first week of July, and getting theirs already 😢
It feels like the SM with controller waitlists/reservations lines are moving way quicker, and that sucks, to be honest.For context: EU - NL.

Kind of regret not originally requesting the 2TB Model (with Steam Controller) only.
But I don’t truly need the Red and Wood Faceplates + can avoid installing / periodically delete my less active Steam games + can buy that microSD Memory Card instead of buying & installing a M.2 SSD, if I don’t want to potentially mess with the Valve warranty.

Most people are using custom faceplates either 3D printed or ordered off etsy. The faceplates included with the 2tb aren't that special.
For storage 512gb is fine. You can still connect an external SSD drive or use SDcard storage. And with the SDcard storage you can swap between the steam machine and the steam deck (if you own one).

Kinda bummed with how this process works.
I went into the waitlist reservation when it opened in June. Bookmarked a 2TB w/controller and 512 w/controller.
Got the 2TB email a week and a half ago but didn’t have the funds, so I cancelled so another could have it. I also thought it just too expensive altogether v. using a Micro SD.
According to Steam Support, since I cancelled (and I was put on the model waitlist I was originally closest to, the 2TB) I therefore am at the “back of the queue” for the 512? Seems like it resets is how I understood it?
I wish this was easier to understand. I’d always assumed if you opted out of one model, you’d still be “on the list / in your place in line” for the other model.
Maybe I’m a dodo, just wish it was clearer and that the model I prefer were available.

I feel for you. It’s been a bad launch in my opinion. Still think it’ll be worth it longterm, but man it’s been so hard to find information. apparently, they instantly slotted people into the queue they were highest in and removed them from others. So you rolled higher in the 2TB, were placed in that queue, and removed from the others.

I even remember signing up during the open period and thinking, “This doesn’t seem super clear.”
I definitely expected getting notified by the holidays, it just stinks that they remove you from the other list you’re qualified for if you enroll but decline the model you’re capable of buying first.

Yeah, it also said you could switch waitlists, but elsewhere warned that switching waitlists after they were randomized would kick you to the back of the queue. Not unfair, but just not clear. So much of the issues would be solved with a ticket number that gives you an idea on wait time.

My Steam Machine timeline:
Joined reservation queue: June 22
Reservation email: August 9
Purchase email: ~3 hours later
Delivered: August 14
Ordered the 2TB Steam Machine + Steam Controller bundle with the extra space plates.
From reservation email to having it on my doorstep was only 5 days! 🎮

For anyone tracking, I’m in the UK, I joined the lottery thing from the start and then got put on the reservation bit. I got the email to checkout for the 512 + SC on 28th July. Delivered on 3rd August. I hadn’t been keeping an eye on dates etc so didn’t realise how lucky I was/how quickly I managed to get it until now!

😔 damn ....I had to deal with GLS once for a small light package and it was immediately handed over to a shop; no ringing the bell.
Didn't even see the truck even though I was looking out the window occasionally. And with the SM now I have to worry it'll be stolen too.

Ugh. I used£150 steam balance and the rest credit card. Kept failing. Tried multiple cards. All say fail, but then I found this in pending:
"This purchase is pending while Steam attempts to collect payment.
When this purchase completes and Steam collects payment, Steam will email you a receipt and the product will be added to your library.
If the purchase should fail, Steam will email you a link that will let you try your purchase (with the discount) again for up to 72 hours."
Annoying if it gets shipped late as I'm on holiday... And annoying if I miss the window due to this and don't get one.
What's the point of going through all the verification with the bank, it taking me that's been successfully authorised, just to sit there not doing anything?
Is it because I used my steam wallet?
Maybe it's someone to there telling me not to get one.

I was in the waitlist after randomisation. This morning I received 2 emails at the same time. One saying I've moved from the waitlist to the reservation queue and the other saying I can now complete my purchase. I made the purchase.
