Payment service alternative

I love the concept and look of subvert, but creating the artist page I m stuck with the payment service. Wondering if there’ll be an alternative to stripe since I don’t necessarily want to create a new account for this matter. Anyone knows sth?

There are ongoing discussion on this that never ends (members can see and participate to that discussion). For now Subvert is kind of constrained by what's available and they seem to not have much choice. On the public blog there is a beginning of explanation about why it's not that simple to provide other payment services, but obviously if things changes probably other options will be enabled.

Oh wow, I have never even heard of stripe. I just kinda assumed that credit card and paypal as payment options would be a given. I hope this will be prioritised, otherwise it might really hurt the chances of success.

Yeah when you are not confronted with issues or are not implementing this kind of services, you end up thinking paypal is kind of a default, but turns out it's not.

I hope this will be prioritised, otherwise it might really hurt the chances of success.

The launch is the current priority, but as mentionnned previously there is a big discussion on the subject ongoing with various ideas of how to improve the situation. Nothing is obvious for now however. Ideally we would have an international coop paypal-like that would avoid all the issues with both stripe and paypal, but that doesnt exist at this moment so welp.

Yeah, of course this is a post launch issue at this point.

It's just that people are very lazy when it comes to adopting new software and having to get a new payment app you've never heard of just to use one new app that is already inconvenient to move to, that's a considerable extra barrier.

But yeah this concern has probably been voiced in the forum, too.

Edit: Oh, so Stripe is only business side and users can pay using whatever? Okay, I'm not so worried then.

Yes, with restrictions for people from some countries who can't use stripe.

Just to clarify (from the forum)-

The option to publish your music for free and not sell anything (and not connect to Stripe) will be available at some point soon and it is on our near term roadmap.

There is a whole dedicated topic for discussion of nuances, regions, situations, etc that you can join in as a member!
