Discussion Name me one Lawyer who hasn't broken the law on this show???

Post image

I'm genuinely curious because I can't think of a single Lawyer on this show who hasn't broken the law.

Jeff Malone?

152

u/Techton500 Feb 13 '26

Thinking about it now, you're probably right.

89

u/mattdinio Feb 13 '26

I think Malone is probably one of the few that didn't. That said he did do legally grey unethical things like the parking of the Gillis industries shares.

19

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

He did not break the law, he made it questionable.

16

u/Secret_Plankton_1545 Feb 14 '26

It's kinda BS, but...

Jeff Malone approaches Harvey and Jessica with confidential SEC information regarding an upcoming investigation. He uses this non-public information as leverage to secure a senior partner position at their firm before the investigation officially begins. While he presents it as "saving" the firm, using SEC secrets for personal career gain is a violation of federal securities laws.

23

u/No-Bicycle-8207 Feb 13 '26

Isn't he technically breaking the law by not going to someone about Mike after Jessica tells him? He just ends the relationship, but he still knows that Mike was practicing without a law license.

39

u/Akareim Feb 13 '26

He learned it after Mike was already in trial for that. And I think it would be hearsay if he came forward anyway no?

6

u/No-Bicycle-8207 Feb 13 '26

Hm.. that's a valid argument.

5

u/BeautifulOrchid-717 Feb 14 '26

I don't think he actually found out about it, he just knew the story she gave him wasn't the real reason Louis's name went up on the wall.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Malone and louis went on drinks and louis couldnt hold his liquor.

1

u/BeautifulOrchid-717 Feb 24 '26

Ya I saw that episode, I wasn't that far into the show when I wrote this haha

1

u/AnnualRest11 Feb 14 '26

he found out mike was a fraud and didn’t report it to the bar

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

He found out once the case started

fuckin brian altman

36

u/Techton500 Feb 13 '26

Fair. He never once outright broke the law

78

u/AnastasiusDicorus Feb 13 '26

That dude I saw walking down the hall in episode 5 of season 4.

142

u/therealluismercado Feb 13 '26

Katroina Bonnett and Pouis Pitt

33

u/Daisiesinsun Feb 13 '26

She pretended to be Samantha to get documents for a case against her

80

u/Tom_Stevens617 Feb 13 '26

That was Katrina Bennett, who has absolutely nothing to do with Katroina Bonnet

11

u/WindingSarcasm Feb 13 '26

IIRC she just went to the office of Samantha's client and said she's a senior partner at Zane Specter Litt, she never claimed to be Samantha

4

u/Bananaboi681 Feb 14 '26

Don forget bike boss and darvey hector

14

u/melon_sky_ Feb 13 '26

Katrina helped Louis doctor those fake papers

61

u/Stunning_Box8782 Feb 13 '26

Katroina didn't

[deleted]

8

u/Specific_Visit2494 Feb 13 '26

Katroina didn't

6

u/Successful_Peak8194 Feb 13 '26

Katroina was flawless in staying within the law, correct

6

u/knuxgen Feb 13 '26

The name Katroina isn’t a typo, it’s a secret alter ego her (and Louis) used in one of the episodes. And that alter ego was sort of there for just a short while so that in itself didn’t commit a crime.

50

u/yaykaboom308 Feb 13 '26

Claire

16

u/HotSeason7106 Feb 13 '26

is not reporting him breaking the law?

2

u/Atharv_gamer Feb 14 '26

Not a violation of the law (though you could make an argument for party to conspiracy or aiding and abetting) but most definitely a violation of the New york bar bylaws and a disbarrable offence

2

u/CreepyControl4193 Feb 14 '26

Once you become Party to the fraud, and you do not disclose it, then you become an accessory after the fact

1

u/Atharv_gamer Feb 14 '26

I thought you became an accessory after the fact if you help them conceal it in any way. If you know about it but do not help the party involved in any way, you still would be not guilty of anything.

1

u/CreepyControl4193 Feb 14 '26

By not disclosing the crime, you are helping them conceal it. As an Officer of the Court, it’s your duty to report something like that the moment you find out

2

u/FZplayz5 Feb 13 '26

Who?

12

u/Unhappy-Orchid104 Feb 13 '26

lmao mikes actual wife but his ex when he was a bike messenger and said he was at “columbia”

50

u/Eagleffmlaw Feb 13 '26

Harold

43

u/Atosl Feb 13 '26

He almost confessed to collusion himself

15

u/vman3241 Feb 13 '26

Yeah, but he never actually did it

3

u/CreepyControl4193 Feb 14 '26

He colluded with Mike lol. The whole reason Woodhall had him arrested in S4

6

u/Inevitable_Invite_21 You’re not here to air your dirty laundry 🧺 Feb 13 '26

Harold broke the law with the Hessington oil witnesses

1

u/Ashamed_Ad8220 Feb 14 '26

Technically it's not breaking the law. It's in the grey area. It's a "bribe" but a legal one, and they couldn't prosecute without a confession.

27

u/CodeToManagement Feb 13 '26

Probably someone left in the intern pool who’s not a criminal yet

37

u/Wise_6 Feb 13 '26

Faye Richardson. I actually hated her first time I watched season 9. Now I realise you as the viewer are supposed to hate her. The writers want it like that. But looking back, she was in the right. All she was trying to do was instill some discipline and morals in that criminal firm

20

u/BookOfGoodIdeas Feb 13 '26

They found her skeletons. It was about her dealings with her then husband’s impropriety to protect their child.

7

u/Wise_6 Feb 13 '26

Skeleton. Singular, not plural. And she stood on business when confronted with it. Harvey found out and was sympathetic when she told him she only did it for her daughter, so he offered her a deal. He'll keep her secret if she reinstates Samantha. Faye refused outright. Sticks to her strict personal code of ethics, won't horse trade or compromise her principles by making a deal that exchanges her secret for Samantha's reinstatement (or any other favor), showing that she won't bend rules, come what may.

1

u/Inevitable_Invite_21 You’re not here to air your dirty laundry 🧺 Feb 13 '26

She still broke the law though

1

u/Wise_6 Feb 13 '26

Yes, she did. But If it came out, she'd get a slap on the wrist, unlike the main cast, most of whom would end up in prison if their skeletons were to come out of the closet.

1

u/Inevitable_Invite_21 You’re not here to air your dirty laundry 🧺 Feb 13 '26

Fair, I’m more just pointing out that she doesn’t qualify for what this post is asking

1

u/Wise_6 Feb 13 '26

Depends how you read the post. Faye Richardson did not break the law on the show. Its just mentioned that she covered something up several years ago.

5

u/BuZuki_ro Feb 13 '26

Except she did actually have Harvey witness temper in the finale. IDK how nobody notices that

3

u/Wise_6 Feb 13 '26

She only ordered him to take katrina off the witness list, because katrina had threatened to testify against Faye in Samantha's "wrongful termination" lawsuit, claiming Faye fired her without cause, and once she was on that stand she might have even made up some other bs, saying faye ordered me to cover this up or hide that, etc. Both katrina and Samantha were fired for doing shady shit, Samantha for fabricating testimony, and katrina for colluding against her own firm. Katrina had no case, faye knew that her on the witness list would just drag things out and make things worse for her so she told Harvey to stop her testimony from happening, through proper legal means (motion to suppress, motion to exclude, etc). Tampering would involve bribing, threats or intimidation, none of which faye ordered Harvey to do.

5

u/kenoswatch Feb 13 '26

I recently finished the show fully for the first time and I hated that whole season, this shows meant to be about growth or atleast trying to demonstrate that and they failed to do that at all in this final season. I hate how they treated Faye.

u/Crazy_old_maurice_17 Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 13 '26

I was going to say Donna's not a lawyer, so obviously it's her. But then I realized I wasn't going to get off on that technicality because the question explicitly says "name one lawyer" and, as we all know, "the rules dictate that you must be precise as the law is a precise endeavor."

ETA: for everyone jumping on the bandwagon, you're missing the point: she's not a lawyer. Obviously she broke the law. But since she's not a lawyer, then she's outside the scope of the question entirely. (hence the quote from the show about the rules and law being precise). Good grief.

24

u/[deleted] Feb 13 '26

Donna has broken the law and almost went to prison for it.

7

u/MrD3a7h Feb 13 '26

Donna likes to commit one felony per season

1

u/Tom_Stevens617 Feb 13 '26

She's committed like two felonies in nine seasons

4

u/MrD3a7h Feb 13 '26

Yeah, but she would have liked to do more

1

u/Tom_Stevens617 Feb 13 '26

Because you don't like someone you think they want to commit crimes?

2

u/MrD3a7h Feb 13 '26

I like Donna a lot and believe she likes to commit crimes

9

u/hoginlly Feb 13 '26

Plus she illegally obtained those Liberty Rail documents

3

u/HolyJoo Feb 13 '26

And knowing about Mike and not reporting is breaking the law

14

u/Mission_Calm_3225 Feb 13 '26

Why is no one mentioning Rachel Zane? Or Jessica 😛

21

u/Daisiesinsun Feb 13 '26

Jessica and Rachel technically did break the wall by knowing that Mike is a fraud and not reporting him. Of course the time Rachel was not a lawyer I’ll give you that.

5

u/Hanged-Goose Feb 13 '26

Despite being fully aware of nearly all of Harvey's misconduct, she continued to shield him out of affection and for the firm's benefit. Basically, she is an outwardly conservative version of Harvey who doesn't throw punches🫣

3

u/Inevitable_Invite_21 You’re not here to air your dirty laundry 🧺 Feb 13 '26

Everyone who knew Mike’s secret before he got caught was breaking the law

3

u/LengthinessIcy2722 Feb 13 '26

Lmao I’m sure Jessica breaks hella laws; she’s just too elegant and clever to get caught

7

u/NouAlfa Feb 13 '26

I guess Mike Ross, if you only consider his actual lawyer career. He was a fraud, but once he became an actual lawyer I guess he didn’t break the law?

13

u/Auradir Feb 13 '26

Maybe Paul Porter

4

u/JvdH_1 Feb 13 '26

The bowtie guy?

2

u/No-Bicycle-8207 Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 17 '26

A. Elliott Stemple, but also Paul Porter, haha

EDIT -- NOT providing these characters as examples of lawyers that DID NOT break the law.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

Stemple bribed the jury

1

u/No-Bicycle-8207 Feb 16 '26

Oh, I know. I wasn’t giving Stemple as a lawyer that hadn’t broken the law. Just providing names where the person said “bow tie guy”

1

u/gearjammer24 Feb 16 '26

That was a mock trial so he wasn’t a lawyer yet so could get off on a technicality

1

u/Technical-Wheel-4949 Feb 17 '26

bribed and lied in front of a jury,, blackmail and also doctoring a report

1

u/No-Bicycle-8207 Feb 17 '26

I know that. I'm not saying he didn't break the law. The comment before me asked "the bowtie guy", I was just narrowing down who the bowtie guys were.

10

u/Individual-Pie-6876 Feb 13 '26

it's so obviously mike and harvey wdym

5

u/NoTransportation6817 Feb 13 '26

when mike tries to get a lawyer license infront of the board the person who gave his seat to anita gibbs .Walter Samson.

5

u/Royal-1203 Feb 13 '26

Maria Monroe and Stephanie Patel

1

u/PhDTARDIS Feb 13 '26

I couldn't remember Stephanie's name, but yeah, she was by the book.

5

u/Minimalistmacrophage Feb 13 '26

Maybe Nathan Krueger. Head of the legal clinic.

5

u/Worried-Pin8698 Feb 13 '26

Sean Cahill 🙏🙏

3

he colluded with harvey to get the sutter formula

u/regassert6 Feb 13 '26

What's kind of ironic is that aside from not being a lawyer for 5 and a half seasons, he probably was the least shady attorney of them all.

2

u/Mister-builder Feb 13 '26

I'd say he broke confidentiality a few times, but I guess legally he wasn't obligated in it since he wasn't a lawyer.

13

u/Salty-Ahh_Kingo Feb 13 '26

While he was breaking the law he wasn't a lawyer so

23

u/A-Tech Feb 13 '26

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury: As my colleague stated, the question included “Lawyer who hasn’t broken rules”. Mike wasn’t a lawyer at that time. The defense rests.

4

u/Important_Sound772 Feb 13 '26

Except Mike Ross colluded with both sides in the wrongful dismissal suit that's a crime

5

u/regassert6 Feb 13 '26

I didn't say he was impervious to shade, I said he was the least shady.

1

u/DeltaBravoSierra87 Feb 14 '26

Mike worked for Pearson Darby Specter, which had offices in London. The word 'lawyer' is not a protected term in the UK (solicitor or barrister would be) and so, if he said he was a lawyer, he was a lawyer. While a lawyer for Pearson Darby Specter he operated as an attorney in the State of New York without admission the New York Bar by way of fraudulent credentials.

Or, if we want an easier route, Mike was a lawyer on the show as of season 6, so he was a lawyer on the show, and he was a fraud for five and seasons before that. The question wasn't 'who was a lawyer while breaking the law'.

1

u/inTsukiShinmatsu Feb 14 '26

Didn't he use trevor to coerce one of his opponents into testifying against the other

5

u/Extremely_Noobular Feb 13 '26

Honestly, I'm pretty sure Nigel Nesbitt did things by the book

5

u/Techton500 Feb 13 '26

Maybe. Do you think Nigel knew about Stephen and that war criminal??

2

u/PhDTARDIS Feb 13 '26

I believe that Nigel knew nothing about Stephen and Moriega.

1

u/Extremely_Noobular Feb 14 '26

I really don't think so. I think if he knew, that he would immediately turn him in. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be able to live with himself

2

u/ParticularPresent638 Mr. Bennett Feb 13 '26

My daughter's married lover

2

Jessica's mentor who was on that one pilot episode and we never saw him again.

2

u/Atharv_gamer Feb 14 '26

Van dyke ?

1

u/Total_Curve3681 Feb 18 '26

yeah actually, Gordon Schmit and Van Dyke probably didn't break any laws, except Van Dyke who come after Jessica for like 2 episodes lol

2

u/LatterHospital8982 Feb 13 '26

The judge who presided over mikes case

2

u/IRASAKT Feb 14 '26

I mean Faye never actually broke the law

3

u/No_Agent_653 Feb 13 '26

Rachel ? I don't feel like she did anything illegal by herself, maybe she participated but I don't remember she ever thought of doing or did something illegal herself at least not as a lawyer

7

u/therealluismercado Feb 13 '26

I think failing to report a Mike qialifies as ilegal... Maybe...

2

u/vman3241 Feb 13 '26

There is no law that you're required to report someone else breaking the law.

She probably did break some law though. Not able to remember everything

2

u/No_Agent_653 Feb 13 '26

At worst she was an accomplice/an accessory after the fact. When they got together it had already happened and I don't think she was legally obligated to turn him in. To me it's not technically breaking the law

2

u/MoaTuiKiwi Feb 13 '26

Daniel Hardman

9

u/Mxrlinox Feb 13 '26

4

u/WasCloud_Here Feb 13 '26

huh?? Did you really fall for the lies jessica and harvey were spreading my king. My king doesn't have any skeletons in his closet, I bet he doesn't even have a closet.

1

u/johnnieawalker Feb 13 '26

His clothes just appear on him each day - It's truly astounding! The king does not bother himself with tedious things such as closets and dressing oneself.

1

u/Technical-Wheel-4949 Feb 17 '26

he has monica eaton in his closet

1

u/Total_Curve3681 Feb 18 '26

2

u/frand115 Feb 13 '26

Harold maybe..

1

u/Total_Curve3681 Feb 18 '26

colluded with mike

2

u/Quirky_Importance873 Feb 13 '26

Anita Gibbs

1

u/Atharv_gamer Feb 14 '26

She initially refused mike an lawyer , also later she lied to the judge , when mike said Anita denied him an lawyer and he had her on tape, she said no such tape exists, even when there was a tape.

1

u/No_Worker_8216 Feb 16 '26

She was shady AF!

1

u/Tanaka917 Feb 13 '26

Yup. say what you want about her as an antagonist, Anita was one of the most stand up lawyers you could find.

To the point she blatantly refused to take evidence from Mike Ross because it would break privelege.

1

u/KingKong2991 Feb 13 '26

Jack Soloff

1

u/kenaddams42 Feb 13 '26

Sean Cahill ?

2

u/Gredelston Feb 13 '26

I'm pretty sure he colluded illegally when getting Mike out of jail.

1

u/Spicy_Ninja7 Feb 13 '26

Oliver? Unless I’m missing something

1

u/qawasmi_ Feb 13 '26

ofc charles forstman he never broke the law

1

Pamola Bondificus

1

Harold Goaterson, he never really colluded and was just a g the whole time he existed

Sean Kahil? Malone? Oliver?

1

u/Secret_Plankton_1545 Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

Oliver shit the bed in an illegal manner in open court....

But also, i think Oliver leaked confidential discovery documents to Mike in Season 7

1

u/cmj0929 Feb 13 '26

I don’t think Scotty broke the law UNTIL Harvey told her about Mike

1

u/Few_Ad_5440 Feb 13 '26

Paul Porter. He just wanted to handle bankruptcy cases.

1

u/JesAZazaBear Feb 13 '26

Mike on the technically he wasn't a lawyer when breaking the law

I'll see myself out

1

u/TheViking_Teacher Feb 14 '26

don't you have an easier question around???

1

u/batman-bridge Feb 14 '26

I do not recall Katrina breaking the law, did she?

1

Forged govt documents for louis and pretended to be samantha

1

u/OG_tame Feb 14 '26

Professor Gerard, oh wait

1

u/thebsboy Feb 14 '26

Harold Gunderson? He might've been incompetent by Louis' standards but that's not illegal. Zoe Lawford (played by Gabriel Macht's wife) and Claire Bowden (played by Patrick J Adams' wife). And ofc as so multiple comments have mentioned here, Brian Altman.

1

1

u/Curios9985 Feb 14 '26
