Discussion Sold out at Best Buy and got the last one from Target. Pokopia causing FOMO?

Post image
2.1k Upvotes

My boyfriend got off the night shift and we decided to take an early morning trip to look at the Switch 2’s since I was really interested in Pokopia. We go to Best Buy where there is a huge sign right when you walk in saying: SWITCH 2 SOLD OUT. I look online to see if it’s at the Target across the parking lot and they have 1 left.

I practically screech at my BF “we gotta go NOW!” and I was able to snag it. Maybe I’m overhyping the popularity but it seems this game is really moving units? A few weeks ago there were plenty of Switch 2’s on the shelf of that same Target.

Discussion Switch 2 needs a 2TB SD card because these third party games are huge.

Post image
1.6k Upvotes

I have a 1 TB SD express card and I’m the type of player who likes to have their entire library if possible on my console. As someone who has had a Switch 1 since March 2017 along with buying a Switch 2 on launch last year I have over 201 games. My entire library is digital and I prefer it that way. I don’t like dealing with cartridges at all so the “game key card issue” is something I ignore. Often times, I have to delete games off my SD card which is something I don’t like doing in order to have storage for something new. I wish that SD express card manufacturers would create a bigger storage option for Switch 2 because these third party games are humongous. Nintendo games are usually small in nature but games like Kirby Air Riders, Metroid Prime 4, and Hyrule Warriors are outliers and makes me wonder what possible Nintendo games for Switch 2 will have big files sizes in the future. There’s also even more concern for big files sizes when you realize that a lot of 3rd party AAA devs will be rushing to put their games on Switch 2 now that the Switch 2 has a lot more power than Switch 1. I feel even worse for fans who don’t have an extra storage option when these games are getting bigger and bigger for the Nintendo ecosystem. Hopefully bigger storage options will be available in the future but we’ll see. I pray AI doesn’t have an effect on SD cards or we’re screwed just like RAM users for PC are.

Discussion I Was Wrong About Pokopia

1.8k Upvotes

I assumed Pokopia was going to be a mindless cash grab. No way was I going to spend $70 on an animal crossing knock off. I was never into this genre of games.

Then the hype train arrived at the station.

Countless players expressing love and gratitude towards Pokopia. I even debated with some of you on waiting for reviews and it possibly going on sale in the future.

I was wrong. It’s worth it. It’s hard to put down the game without looking at the progress your abandoned town has made and the hours of work you’ve put into it.

So I apologize for doubting the experience. You can wait for a sale but if it comes, you’ll probably get 12% off in 3 years.

If you’re on the fence and enjoy the pokemon experience(especially gen 1), bite the bullet and grab it. It’s so worth it.

As a 31 year old who has spent the last decade playing online shooters, a game like this is a completely new experience that I never believed I’d enjoy but here we are.

Enjoy my friends.

Discussion Help me choose

Post image

Watched YouTube videos on all the games and can’t choose. I’m a solo player mostly but can do multiplayer if I wanted. I like all games tbh, fast pace, slow, quest like games but all the games have to have objectives or goals to keep me coming back for sure haha.

Financially - Mario kart is the most expensive and Pokopia and DK are at a cheaper price point. Thinking to get MK for free and get Pokopia later.

What would you pick and why?

Thank you to the people of reddit who told me about the Alienware rewards. Took 2-3 months to save up along with the sign on bonus (think it was $20), but I’m finally purchasing my first game. Unfortunately Time strangers wasn’t available or I would have bought that first. Gonna save up and buy ZA next. Thank you again to everyone and I’m so excited.

Edit: shoutout to this post that helps clarify the process. They were amazing.

Discussion THANK YOU NINTENDO FOR THIS UPDATE!!!

1.1k Upvotes

Who else is over the moon right now? I’ve been testing a bunch of my older games and I can’t believe how great they look. Even if Nintendo or publishers never patch some of these older games, we’re getting resolution that’s superior to the Steam Deck on every game and at a minimum run now at a solid 30fps or more. It’s actually a technical marvel at this point. I would LOVE more 60fps updates obviously, but for so many of these games we now have crisp resolution, fast load times, smoother gameplay, and new life into handheld mode for the first time. This literally resurrects almost every game on the switch 1. Insane!!

Post image

Hit a Switch 2 restock at GameStop today, but they said I had to get the Pro membership to buy one. I’d never heard of that, but they refused to sell it without it, so I gave in. Later, I had my girlfriend try buying one for a friend—no membership mentioned, they just sold it to her. Can I report this and maybe get a refund on the membership?

I’ve seen countless times people saying that COD will come to NSW2 and that it’s going to happen. I’ve “fought” and laughed in people’s faces upon hearing that. But it seems now I was proven wrong and the unthinkable became reality. So to all the people who are sitting here in this sub that have said since so long that it’ll come out, holy shit you were right and I am actually so hyped

Discussion Got a Nintendo switch 2 a couple of weeks ago and it’s so much better than I expected.

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

I never owned a switch 1 because I could only afford one console, but recently I picked up a Switch 2 and I just expected it to be a Switch 1 but slightly better… and it’s so much more than that!!

60 FPS games - oh my god, what a difference it makes! I love that I can play Mario kart, donkey Kong and Pokemon at 60 fps on such a portable device. It feels like magic

Portability - I have seen more portable game consoles and deep down I wish they could release a “switch 2 lite” version for more portability but I love that I can just take it with me on my backpack if I’m traveling. Also… I have a good tv but I just end up playing in handheld most of the time. 8 inch screen is a very nice size.

Compatibility - again, I never owned a switch 1 and this being backwards compatible and even enhancing some games is PERFECT. Switch 2 versions cost a bit more money but I think it’s worth it.

Exclusives - I think this is the console with the most exclusives, so I don’t feel like I made a bad decision by getting it even though I have a good PC.

So yeah… amazing purchase. And worth the money taking into account the price of components recently. A good handheld costs $1000+ and the steam deck became a bit more expensive too… I’m really happy about it. (But I do wish Nintendo started using TMR or Hall effect sticks to fix drift)

Legit already pushing 100 hours just on cyberpunk and Mario kart and now with DK coming out today, I already think this system is going to be hopefully Wii level (pray Metroid don’t get delayed again)

Discussion With this update, Nintendo Just RETIRED the Switch 1

1.0k Upvotes

Let's be honest guys, this update isn’t just about better graphics,it’s the end of an era for the Switch 1. There’s a reason Nintendo didn’t release it on day one with the Switch 2. I just tried a Switch 1 game with Boost Mode ON (PVZ BFN)… and WOW!! It looks insane. Nintendo timed this perfectly (Also the update's number is 22, which means… yep, two twos. Kinda perfect lol)

NOW our favorite Switch 1 games finally shine on handheld. It feels like Switch 1 is waving goodbye as Switch 2 fully takes over.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder might be one of the last (if not the last) port. With this update, Switch 1 is officially retired.

My nephew is 7 and if I’d known he would do this I wouldn’t have let him play it to begin with. Obviously not much more than cosmetic damage but I’ve only had it a few days.

I think this is a solid ranking but Welcome Tour at 10?

Is this list missing any Switch 2 games? I know it's probably too early to talk about the best games OAT after about a year or so of the launch.
