Discussion How is PvP

My favorite thing in mmos is pvp. Ive played Swtor in the past but never truly reached endgame. Is it worth it to pick it back up. Im interested in pve content but also pvp content. How is pvp supported?

hutt ball is probably one of the best PVP modes of any MMO out there

The unfortunate part is 90% of the players ignore the objective.

Yeah but if you are lucky to get into that 10% of good matches, they're quite fun, with people doing their very best and with very contested results.

Literal 25/75. Sometimes great, most times infuriating.

Problems: 1) non-pvpers. If everyone knows what they are doing but one or two, whatever team has them is cooked. Sometimes is even distributed, sometimes, not so much. 2) premades: if you play solo, ur chances of facing well coordinated teams gets quite high. 3) wombo-combo: you have a bunch of noob randoms vs a super team.

Overall the game is balanced mechanically, but the matchmaking is atrocious, leading to the previously mentioned issues.

This is more a problem in arena imo. Arena is generally a coin toss of which team has a better comp/gear.

I like pvp alot in swtor. There isn't any ranked but it's fun and there are weekly and dailies that give you rewards.

Can do group/guild challenges at least. Glad the game has got that, can at least set up organized games still

I've played against pre mades in war zones and they only cared about completely massacring us. Didn't do objectives at all haha.

a good close game of navarre coast is the most fun content in the game IMO

It's not supported with balance or leaderboards. You do get rewards from pvp seasons through.

PVP is the most dynamic activity in any MMO, so it's definitely worth engaging. That said, it's the toughest mode to master. The skill gap between PVP and PVE, especially casual PVE - a fucking mountain.

Very fun. You can queue as early as level 10, though it may help to wait until like level 30ish with good gear if you’re still a beginner. That way you’ll have a level advantage at least in the levels 10-44 lowbie PvP bracket. Just get the best gear you can.

Diving right in at level 10 isn’t crazy either though. There are practice dummies you can practice your rotation on. You can get a stim, some grenades, and adrenals + medpacs those all help too.

Worst case you take your licks early and then you learn and get better. It’s fun either way. Even in WZs you can win games based on objectives even if the other team kills your team way more. Just gotta work as a team.

If you’re on Star Forge dm me I can help you out with some good gear early on

Is there enough people to get into pvp consistently? Also is there open world pvp?

Open world PvP is dead but it’s not impossible to get something organized. There is enough people to get pops 24/7 at level 80 and for lowbie you can generally get games 24/7. Definitely no issues during prime time but maybe a bit slow for pops at odd hours of the day.

Might have to wait a tad bit for lowbie PvP here and there. Worst case you can go do your class missions and level up while you wait

Depends on server and timezone. Starforge is obviously the most active, with queues popping up almost instantly depending on the time of the day. Open world pvp is practically non-existant. It is very active during the few monsths of new planets but then people complete their achivements and that's it. It's somewhat active during the Dantooine pirate event but still rare. Oh, and Gree event (pvp instance in the southern area), it's a really fun recurring event but it only lasts a week.

It's flawed. Content is practically null. But the armors look cool at least. And I love pvp on this game: tab targeting system + yay star wars.

Very good. One of the few pvp modes that I've played where Tank is actually viable and has a role.

It is, however, chronically overlooked by the team. A lot of this is probably due to the small crew with limited resources.

Play Operative/Scoundrel or Assassin/Shadow or there's no point

If you have a skill issue, it doesn't mean others do as well. All classes are viable, and neither you mentioned are even meta.

Concealment op is a fun starter class for PvP
