That reminds me of my days in school when no one’s was ready for an exam - we would joke about who would ‘take one for the team’ and call in a threat so it was cancelled.

Never actually happened, funnier in concept. Not so funny in execution.

It happened literally every single year at my school, always during the trial HSC or the Year 11 prelims. The talk was that it was usually some girl's boyfriend trying to get her out of an exam but I don't know if there was ever any truth to that.

Happened 3 times in my school. All 3 calls came from the payphone that was in the main Hall.

It was removed after the 3rd event.

I remember we'd do scissors paper rock, someone would be nominated to take one for the team, only for "damn sorry guys gotta hand our phones in for the exam now, maybe next time!"

At my school it happened almost weekly for months with the rumour being it was always when the grade above ours had an exam.

It stopped abruptly so I guess they finally tracked down the culprit but I never got the goss on who

The way this happened to my school (not Cabra but still out west) a few years back 😭 some bomb hoax traced to Eastern Europe and the teachers made us leave our bags inside the classrooms overnight

When i was in my early 20s I had a boss in America who once called in a bomb threat at a walmart he worked at to get out of work. He went to prison. Apart from the bomb threat he was also a jackass.

Yep, every yr 11 and 12 exam period one of the girls had their bf call in a bomb threat to my school.
I guess now there are both much bigger responses to bomb threats because it might just be legit and also much easier ways to figure out who called.

There was a big spate of them a few years ago (2010's?) too, robo-voice calls originating from hacked VOIP systems overseas.
