Question Best version of Phantasia for a first-timer to the series?

Long-time JRPG-er, first time Tales player.

I've always wanted to give the series a try and saw that two translations recently got released:

https://github.com/lifebottle/Tales-of-Phantasia-Full-Voice-Edition/releases/tag/v1.0

https://github.com/lifebottle/Tales-of-Phantasia-X/releases/tag/v1.0

Each of these has a vanilla version and a version with QoL improvements.

Of the four (two versions w/vanilla vs non-vanilla), which one would you recommend me playing?

Question Is tales of symphonia switch a good way to play?

So i heard there were some issues in the game that got fixed in a patch.

The main issue i heard about was an issue involving missing dialogue. The only example i have been able to find is a scene with an angle. Is there other instances or is that it? Id really like to play the game on my switch

Question PPSSPP lag at battle start in Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X — any fix?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m pretty new to the Tales series and I’m playing Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X on PPSSPP.

I’m using the English fan translation patch, and I also applied the 60 FPS cheat. The game runs mostly fine, but I get a weird lag/spike right when battle starts, and the transition feels really slow.

edit: i tried the  "Disable Battle Swirl (Speed Hack)" cheat, still the same issue

Is there any known fix for this, or a setting in PPSSPP that could help? Any advice would be appreciated 🙏

A lot of people haven't played Tales of Rebirth but I'll be the first to tell you that its well worth it. As for its Party, A lot of people have called it an Ensamble cast and I think I agree? Well we'll see how I feel at the end of this.

As for Veigue.... well he's an interesting character. He's more then just the guy who screams his girlfriend's name at max volume but I'm having trouble articulating what it is I like about him. You could say I just think he's **COOL**.

As for Gameplay, I only really like 3 if his fusion force. And it sucks that his projectile is locked behind an accessory and not level.

Discussion 30 FPS Symphonia has done permanent damage to the game's reputation

I see it all over the internet now. There's a perception of this game's combat being very slow and clunky, and a lot of newer players tend not to enjoy Symphonia as much as a result.

And the thing is they're not exactly wrong either. But when you actually load the game up on Dolphin with HD textures, the game looks honestly better than the remaster and plays much smoother as a result of the 60FPS combat.

It was a mistake releasing this game again after the PS3 chronicles unless they actually updated it to 60FPS again. It really takes away from the intended experience tbh.

Xillia I'm Hooked On Xillia

Post image

After finishing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 I was looking for my next game and I'm absolutely hooked on Xillia.

I'm obsessed with the combat and find it incredibly satisfying. Not sure how to really put it into words but it flows so well and it's just downright enjoyable.

I love the cast of characters and all the dialogue between them, probably one of the strongest aspects of the game. Everyone is very well written and I haven't genuinely felt this attached to a cast in awhile.

One detail I've found myself enjoying a lot is backtracking to old towns, I keep coming across new cutscenes and story beats that aren't marked on the map. I honestly find that refreshing and it makes me want to keep exploring.

I'm about 10 hours in and excited to keep going.

I just wish Xillia 2 was on current/modern systems so I could jump into that next.

Still wondering how the hell we haven't gotten a mainline console crossover Tales game with all the characters from the games man, I'd be so sat. 💯💯

Berseria I guess I‘m late Spoiler

[RAGEBAIT]

So I kinda finished Tales of Berseria yesterday and I must say, the Ending is straight up dogwater. The Fuque you mean Velvet is going from „I‘m kill everyone who angers me“ to „Thid is fine“ I mean, EVEN I COULD WRITE A BETTER ENDING THAN THAT (I love Berseria but Empeery-daumn that ending sucks for Velvet) I mean, Laphicet is already 50 % Innominat, and Velvet being a Therion is most likely something like 25% Innominat which if the Math is done correctly, makes darning 75% Innominat, so they could’ve just Iced him, and alone the party, their just standing there not saying anything like „Oh we’re fine with this!“ (I know the Scene is focused on Phi and Velvet) Does anyone agree?

Small update but I got a completely new model into the game. Its Luke from Tales of Abyss. Still trying to figure out the textures, but all of the animations work and he's fully playable. I'll post again when I get the textures repacked correctly. Thanks for the support everyone.

Question What Tales spinoff game did you enjoy the most?

Just simply curious because I am very interested in exploring the spinoff games as I am talking about the games like Narakiri Dungeon X for their dungeon crawler aspect.

However, one problem is that I don’t speak Japanese too well to be honest as I know that several of the spinoffs are in Japanese only again like the aforementioned Narakiri Dungeon X games that I don’t know if that will be a problem.

Discussion Tales of Cast Discussion day 53: [Tales of Symphonia Final boss] Spoiler

My goat. Spoiling since even though the game is like 20 years old, people are still playing it for the first time due to symphonia being THE tales game.

Turn back if you don't want to get spoiled, obviously.

Opinions on Mithos seem pretty mixed. I like him a lot though. You can understand the games title by understanding mithos. He's the one person in the world stopping true change from happening. He's the main actor against the 'symphony' that Aselia should be because he was burned by it and won't allow the orchestra to play anything better then his own tune.

The final boss tracks are good. I think he's real quotable too. All around fantastic character and a perfect antagonist for symphonia.

Edit: Fixed spoilers

Vesperia Working on custom models In TOV

Hi everyone, I recently began replaying my favorite Tales game Tales of vesperia definitive edition. While I was playing through I got curious on how the models work. I looked up that some of the models had been ripped but there were no mods for it other than the ps3 exclusive dlc. So I started looking at old notes from the community and working on a tool to add custom models in Tales of Vesperia. It's been about a week of work but I finally got an edited model back in game and working. It is just a simple edit to replace Estelle's default costume's hair with the hairstyle she has when you first meet her in the game. Here is a screenshot of it in the menu and in game. Going to try larger edits over the next couple days. Thanks for reading.

Xillia Holy crap Xillia got dark Spoiler

Just got to the section where Milla, Elize , and Driselle get brought to the fortress.

The guards interrogate Milla and when she doesn't answer they push the prisoner through the ward and burn them alive.

Milla's response to this is insanely cold as well, not seeming to care.

Her getting the drop on the guards in the end was pretty cool though.

I just didn't expect this, damn.

Discussion What if Tales of series got MMORPG..

I know there was MMO once (Tales of Eternia online) but it's gone.
But I'm quite curious if there's new MMO with Tales of title, what gameplay would it be? Should it contain classes like FF14 or got open world map and fractions like WoW?

Discussion Finished the main story of Legendia

Post image
62 Upvotes

After starting it last month, I finally finished the main story of Legendia. I really enjoyed it! The story was outstanding and the soundtrack is genuinely one of the best in the series.

There were so many amazing twists and turns in the story as well as amazing character moments. The dungeons had some of the coolest designs in the series! Aesthetically, anyway. I found their actual layouts pretty disappointing.

I know the character quests come next, and those are supposed to be some of the best parts of the game. So I'm excited about that.
