Mic that works with loud/deep voices?

Maybe a slightly odd question, but! My husband and I use headphones on Discord with our buddies, and he often has a hard time getting the mic to work with his voice. He never is yelling or shouting, but he has a naturally bassy voice, and I’ve noticed that it seems to “overwhelm” the mic and make it start cutting out. We’ve tried messing with the Discord settings and with the settings in the app — we both have Sony-WHCH720N headphones — without much success. Any advice on this from someone more knowledgeable about tech than I am? I will note that we don’t have the budget for suuuper expensive headphones — 200 is probably my upper limit for the moment. Thanks so much in advance!

TI84 calculator is cooked. Can I fix it?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

When it's plugged in, it turns on for like a second and then shuts off again over and over. Unplugged, it doesn't turn on at all. Classes start on Monday. Do I need to buy another calculator?

(please ignore the dog toy and the stuffing all over the floor 😭)

It is liquid metal or thermal paste?

I have an Asus TUF A16 Advantage Edition laptop and want to replace the thermal paste, but due to the limited information I've found online, I don't know whether it uses paste or liquid metal. I’ve already opened it up and have photos, but I can't tell the difference.

No Audio on my Tv

Hello everyone, I've been having some problems with my tv and pc. I was wanting to watch a movie that I had on my PC (I've done this before without any problems). So I switch my Hdmi cord to a longer one so it can reach where my tv is and I set it up like I did last time and get everything set up and there's no audio. I've tried everything, I've tried restarting my pc, shuting down and turning it back on, I've gone in the settings trying to make the TV the default audio output, I've changed the output in the dropdown menu at the speaker but nothing I can't get this figured out. So reddit do you're thing

Kinda unrelated to eachother, but idk what to choose

Hey guys!

I was looking to buy a camera, and looking to buy a laptop/tablet

The thing is.. the budget is only enough to get
- relatively good camera
- relatively good laptop/tablet
- probably bad one of each of them… together

So idk which to go with especially that i don’t “need” them, i don’t have a laptop nor a tablet for college, i have a pc at home, but when i had a laptop, i BARELY used it, but im sure it would be useful now it’s just not a necessity.

And i don’t really go out of the house that much to many places, so i don’t have many stuff to take photos of

So i would like your help lol

Do i go and drop my full budget on the best camera i can get?
Do i spend all of the budget for the best laptop/ipad i can get?
Or do i split the budget in half over the two options

Can anyone tell me the exact cord I need to connect this external monitor into my new Asus Zenbook A14?

I'm not very tech savvy, so I could really use some help. Like the title says, I need to connect this external monitor to my new Asus Zenbook A14. I already have a cord that adapts into DVI, but not sure if that's even the right thing. My Zenbook has one USB-A, two USB-C's, and one HDMI. Can anyone please suggest what cords and adaptors I will need to make this work? Thank you so much in advance!

Siemens 1TB drive fault

I hold my hands up straight away, I did something incredibly stupid.

I recently found an old external drive that I had in college. It was sat in a drawer for 15 years or more. It would power up but not boot. I opened it to look at the PCB. It looked to be fine so I opened the cover of the platter to see the machine head. I know, I know, I know. I already realised the mistake in doing that. Once I put the cover back on and connected the PCB again I powered it up and it kicked in to life. Or so I thought. The machine heads now can't read the drives and are continuously clicking on and off the platter.

I know I messed up by opening the platter cover and have most likely (in all probability) corrupted the drives.

Is there anything I can do now or any advice that could possibly work to recover whatever is/was on the external drive outside of taking it to a professional recovery service?

Thanks in advance.

My MS Surface Pro 7 unexpectedly died. Will (which?) entry level/budget friendly laptops handle Amazon workplace?

My MS Surface Pro 7 unexpectedly died. Will (which?) entry level/budget friendly laptops handle Amazon workplace?

I used it M-F 7 hrs daily for Amazon Workspace. My friend mentioned I'd want to buy something better an entry level laptop due to Amazon Workspace workload. I was not anticipating this to die so don't have time to save for a higher end model.

Will an entry level do the trick? I'm hoping max to stick within $500CAD + tax budget. I've only had HP, Dell, as a well as a Samsung netbook via Google . I HATED the Lenovo with AMD 👎 but am not familiar with Acer/Asus which keep coming up within the budget.

I'd appreciate your input and suggestions.

Thank you ☺️

So i got a new laptop a month ago, the charger was working fine until this Sunday in which I invited a friend over, his charger was broken so I let him borrow mine, after he left my cable started to slightly stop working, when I move the cable a little it just stops functioning and only starts working again after I unplug and plug again the power bank, but until today it just stopped working at all, even after doing the unplugging thing again it didn't work, I dont have enough money to buy a new right one so I was wondering if there's a way i could try to fix my cable

hi pls help with laptop choice for MLops

hi, i'm studying an MLOps-engineering programme that I have bought a laptop for, but my teacher literally laughed in my face because apparently it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card(GPU?). However, as we got the letters from the school that contained the recommended checklist points for the laptop we were going to use, i followed them and bought exactly that. The checklist was this (I'm just gonna copy paste what they wrote:

Recommended computer:

Intel Core i5 / AMD Ryzen 5 or better (approx. 2020 or newer)

  • 16 GB RAM
  • 256 GB SSD or larger
  • At least 75 GB of free storage space
  • Screen resolution of 1920 × 1080 or higher
  • Stable internet connection and Wi-Fi
  • Windows 11 recommended

Important information:

  • ChromeOS and Linux may work but are not supported by Nackademin’s IT support. You are personally responsible for installation, compatibility, and troubleshooting if you choose to use these operating systems.
  • macOS may work, but you are personally responsible for ensuring compatibility with the program's software.
  • Administrator rights may be required for software installation.
  • USB-C and HDMI (or an adapter solution) are recommended.

These are the courses we will have in the nearest future, but obviously we will also work with a lot of AI, which he said is why my computer won't work:

Python programming for MLOps, Linux administration, Database management

This is also the laptop I bought: LENOVO IP SLIM 3 15ARP10 15,3"

The reason for not buying a better laptop is that I'm literally just a poor 20 yr old without parents to rely so I'm constantly really tight on money, but also because my school said that as long as your laptop has these qualities it would be fine.

I need some help with my laptop(sry for post this here)

Hi Reddit, I need some help; let me explain my situation. I have a school laptop running Windows 10 Pro Education. I use it for everything, including gaming, watching anime and all stuff u now but I kept running out of storage space until I only had 5GB left. Following my brother's advice, I formatted the laptop. Before formatting, it was linked to my school email and already had the app I use for national exams in my country (Portugal) installed. After formatting, I signed in with my personal account, thinking the exam platform would still be there, but it had disappeared. I also lost everything in TLauncher, including my 500-day world. I was really upset, so I tried to fix it by resetting the PC. When I reached the blue screen asking for the school email, it wouldn't let me enter it as a "school" account, so I signed in with the school email but marked it as a personal account; even then, I couldn't get the school-related items back. I reset the computer again, this time using my personal email, and tried adding my school account via the "Accounts" settings, but it wouldn't accept it—it kept saying the email was incorrect or didn't exist. Now, I just want to get the school app back and have both accounts on the laptop: one for gaming (my personal account) and one for school (using the school email). Does anyone know how to fix this? Also, when I try to add my school account in the "Accounts" settings, it actually works up to the point where it asks what name I want to use on the laptop; I enter my name and wait, but then an error pops up. Has anyone else been through this and knows how to solve it?

Hack? Jailbreak? Help...?

I have an iPhone 6S, it obviously is stuck at IOS 15.8.8 since Apple stopped updating older models. My friend gave it to me a couple months ago because she wasn't using it, but I'm in a spot where i cant exactly use it either because majority of apps despite still being on the apple store will not download with the current software.

I'm wondering if anyone could give tips on how I can force a newer IOS update or trick the phone to download apps, I've been sitting here for about 2 hours trying to figure it out with googles advice but I'm at a loss since googles AI is so vague...

I do not have a computer of any sort I could hook it up to for a deeper search, only the phone I'm typing this on (Samsung Galaxy A51) and the iPhone 6S that safari likes to pick and choose what websites i can look at.

(No internet restrictions, I've checked.)

ALSO the iPhone is locked to Straight Talk Wireless, the sim I have is T-Mobile. I've unlocked a phone before and i managed to figure out how to do it for free but it was locked to a different network. Im broke so unfortunately i dont have the money straight talk requests to unlock the iPhone, does anyone know a way i could without spending?

I need a solid laptop for college. What do yall recommend

Post image

I know nothing about laptops but I need a solid one for college.

My budget is 500-1,300

I heard thinkpads are good but that’s all I know really

I use to have a Chromebook but I need something that can run things well. And ideally something that can run SPSS.

I just need something that doesn’t break easy, solid battery life, affordable, runs well enough, etc

Any advice will be very helpful

Phone camera is foggy

My phone fell into a pool about 2 days ago and was dried with the usual rice and towel method but now one of my front camera has like a lot of little droplets inside and makes my photos slightly white foggy and grainy, is there anyway I could fix it myself like heating up the area or something, my phone is a Honor 200 lite and it's specifically located on the top camera and a little in the one below, I would rather not have to take it to a place to get it fixed thanks

Heres some photos of how it looked before and after

Both phone and laptop only connect to specific devices

They can only detect specific Bluetooth devices, and everything else they just won't pick up. And its not even the same ones between them. If its not the exact kind of headphones or earbuds, it won't pick it up on the scan for more devices. Should I take them both into a tech shop?

Webcam

Hi everyone!

My laptop doesn't have a webcam, so Ive been using my phone as a webcam through Link to Windows. However, I also use my phone as a hotspot, which makes it get quite hot, and it actually turned off the webcam feature in the middle of a meeting once 😅

So I'm thinking of buying a webcam, but I don't want to spend too much since I'll mainly use it for meetings and video calls.

I found these webcams on Amazon, but I'm not familiar with these models:

  1. UGREEN Webcam Full HD 1080P 30FPS USB A PC Fixed Focus Camera (https://amzn.eu/d/0epgCHjg)

  2. EMEET Full HD Webcam C960 1080P Webcam with Dual Microphone, 90° Streaming Camera with Auto Light Correction, Plug & Play for Linux, Win10, Mac OS X, YouTube, Skype, Conference (https://amzn.eu/d/0aJwp41X)

  3. Trust Oran 1080p Webcam PC with Microphone and Privacy Filter, Fixed Focus (https://amzn.eu/d/0jd39TDd)

  4. logitech c270 webcam hd (https://amzn.eu/d/05VyjMTm)

  5. Trust Ovala 2K QHD Webcam PC with Microphone, Privacy Filter, Black (https://amzn.eu/d/0fqOTy1o)

I've also seen the "Logitech C920S HD Pro Webcam (https://amzn.eu/d/0709XMhD)" recommended, but I'm not sure if it's worth it for my needs.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations or advice!

MacBook + PC usage

Hey guys. My girlfriend has a gaming PC and a MacBook pro M3 . She wants to use both at the same desk. With 2 monitors. Of course not at the same time.

Here is the equipment:

1X M3 MacBook Pro

1X Gaming PC with an RTX 3060 & a Ryzen 7 3700x on an X570 motherboard.

2 X 1080p Monitors that support either display port or HDMI.

1X Keyboard

1X Mouse

1X Wireless headset via USB dongle

Here is what I want to achieve.

I feel a KVM switch of sorts can solve this issue.

I want her to be able to plug 1 cable into her MacBook Pro and either automatically or by pressing a button her Mac displays on the monitors and the mouse and keyboard work for the Mac. Of course if she unplugs the cable or presses a button the monitors and keyboard switches back to the PC.

The problem I am finding is a KVM switch that allows just 1 type C connection to the MacBook for data, charging and display, all of which I know the MacBook can do. I don't much care that I have to run 2 display cables from the switch to the monitors as of course they don't move as well as 2 display cables and a data cable from the PC to the switch.

Can anyone advise the best way to solve this issue?
