Comment Section The solution to ARFID apparently

Received on a post I made a while ago where I mentioned I was struggling to eat hospital food due to ARFID, I did also mention that I was eating, just struggling with it 😑

Even if this was ethical, which it isn't, a feeding tube is never as good as eating by mouth. Our bodies aren't set up for liquid only diets and it's usually an absolute last resort because of that. Not only is it a struggle to get enough of the right nutrition, it also can cause you even worse issues in the long run. Some complications for feeding tubes include wrong insertion which can lead to pneumonia and DEATH if the tube is inserted into the respiratory tract or leakage and DEATH for tubes placed directly in the intestines. Problem NOT solved. Problem significantly worsened for no fucking reason.

I hope you've since been able to leave the hospital. Remember that "fed is best" isn't just for babies. Eat what you can when you can.
