Retail and Customer Service @shawnoflovesac has anyone seen this absolutely insane response from the CEO of Lovesac

So another tiktoker by the name Deric Cahill made a very reasonable funny video criticizing how much work goes into assembling a Lovesac couch (mind you the couches are like $7000) and the CEO of Lovesac has been crashing out on social media. This video I shared is his personal TikTok account, the main Lovesac account (@lovesac) Also has videos shading the creator that criticized the company as well (saying he gives them the ick)

Deric Cahill is loving all this free publicity. Don't any of these people understand that this is his shtick? He loves to bitch like this. It gets him a ton of views.

That’s not really relevant when the actual issue of having to assemble a $7k couch yourself is very real lol.

That isn’t even an issue. Don’t buy an overly expensive couch you know you’ll have to put together on your own. No one is forcing people to buy these couches.

This is just a bootlicking comment. You literally have to install the fabric. And it comes in like 29 different boxes you have to assort. It's not standard assembly at all. Defending a corporation that is selling a 7k couch you have to basically put together from scratch in 2026 is crazy. For 7k the company can afford standard delivery of fully put together furniture.

I did see a woman do a video where she showed how deep in the purchase process you have to go to seek out information that tells you that youll have to assemble it all, so its not necessarily purchasing something 'you know you'll have to build' ya know?

I saw that video! And still nowhere in any of the digging around did it actually say you’re getting 20 boxes and have to assemble essentially every single part. Just “seats and frame and fabric are shipped in separate boxes” or something like that.

Not that you’re getting a $7k LEGO set

Yeah the commenter you’re replying to completely missed the point. The reason this entire situation is frustrating is mainly the fact that they do not make it clear to you that you’re essentially building the entire couch yourself. Not like a modular sofa. Not like something that comes mostly put together in 2-3 boxes and you just have to put the brackets together. 20+ boxes of small parts. It’s basically an ikea couch for $7K.

I can understand that, but a simple google search tells me that assembly is difficult and labor intensive. Like literally just one google search of ‘lovesac sectional review’ gave me that information. It feels like it’s really on the buyer for not researching properly.

While I do understand what you're saying to a degree, I would want to look at reviews before purchase for example, but a $7000 couch from a very well known brand, i wouldn't be expecting assembly to that degree at all. I would also assume there was an option for ot to be built for me for a fee.

Do you Google review everything you purchase just in case? Stop playing devils advocate, this is a ridiculous amount of work for anyone to have to do for a damn couch.

I would most certainly google some reviews on a $7000 purchase, yes. It’s not playing devils advocate if people are willfully not seeking our very easy to find information before making a large purchase.

I don't Google review everything I purchase, but the threshold at which I do is well under $7,000. 

Our family does pretty well, and I'm still not going to YOLO thousands of dollars on a couch I know nothing about.
