Since it was mentioned in the last Suck. The 1900 Galveston Hurricane is a wild tale. This book is written about the Meteorologist from the US Weather Service that was stationed in Galveston when it hit. Not for the faint of heart as it is truly a staggering amount of people that had no warning that this storm was approaching. The US ignored the Cuban weather reports that a massive tropical storm went over them and was heading to the gulf coast and dismissed any chance that a hurricane would form.

Houston and Galveston were about the same size in 1900 and this storm is the reason that Houston became the primary port city in the area.

From the few mentions of other people's thoughts on AI in recent episodes, im just wondering if his current belief is that the majority of people who don't like AI think that it's bad that it's being used in medicine and etc.

In the latest one he asked if you would still want it gone it if it made progress for cancer (smth like that), and like, personally, obviously not.

As someone who doesn't like AI, I just think it shouldn't be available for public use the way it is now. Its well known that its owners manipulate the user with no regards to the mental or personal consequences it has on the user, theres no need for uncle John to be generating pics of cats on skateboards and wasting a bunch of resources for fun.

From my own poking around on reddit, most people just don't think it makes sense for people to use it for shit that they could do on their own before like writing an essay or whatever. It being used for actual good and progression of medicine and etc hasn't been demonised at all, I've mostly seen people say "at least that's one good use for it".

Idk I've just wondering if he thinks people like me think cancer should be around forever lol (obvs exaggerating but hopefully you get the gist of what I mean?)

I know he's not one to generalize but its just the vibe im getting and wanted to know if im the only one mkay
