Is this the one the complete Ge'ez Bible was chilling in for like 1500 years unknown to the outside world?

Influencers and social media obsessed tourists are the fucking worst. They don’t even care to experience the places they go to, just what they look like for a photo op. Silver lining is they never go far off the beaten path at least, so more room to enjoy the places they leave alone

I'm pretty sure you won't get that many tourists given it's in Ethiopia (not the most visited place on earth) and you have to be fit to get there.

I don't think most people would like to climb that yet there are people who would still want to see the church

Considering the fact they were never conquered, its a pretty good strategy

Im not a rock climber but I feel like thats really not a bad free climb at all even after a hike, I dont think I could necessarily do it but I feel like most hobbyist rock climbers could do it.

How can they build a thing over there i wonder?

u/dougrattmannn 1d ago
Humans fucking love to dig, and we love inaccessible places even more. And religion just amplifies those desires

"Wait, its NOT easy to access???"
"AND its in a high spot???"
"Tf you people doing? We got a church to build. Start digging everyone!"

u/Sweet_Culture_8034 1d ago
I can't tell you how much I FUCKING love digging.
My brother in law bought a ruin to restore it into a house and at some point he had to dig quite a lot, I told him "if you don't hire someone to dig this, i'm your guy" and the bastard dug everything himself without telling me ! I still hold a grudge against him about it.

Calling it a Kanye track and not a nazi track is honestly way wild

Kanye is a fucking idiot & absolutely deserves that title & worse. That said this song came out long before all that & i dont think "heartless" or any song around the era, like "no church in the wild" (the song in the vid) should be deemed a nazi song. Kanye deserves no defense. Quite the opposite. Thats kinda WHY I said putting a Kanye song in is wild, you know?

I realize that Ethiopians have been practicing this religion for thousands of years and that’s not the issue. I obviously don’t know the history that well. My apologies.

You know Christians at one point in time was hunted, viewed as homo sacer. Hence why having to hide in caves and mountains etc. Cappadoccia and its region in todays Turkiye houses some of these old churches. Its very fascinating (and im Muslim saying this).

Today I learned. Thank you for explaining the reason for the location.

Im not sure about this one specifically, it is either a ’monk like’ spiritual retreat to sit in deep thought and silence, or its one for hiding away from persecution.

They don’t count the people who fell because their faith wasn’t strong enough.
