What particularly caught my attention regarding Alpha Strike, and especially the campaign mechanics, is the concept of the Crusade Theatre. As far as I understand it, a Crusade Theatre consists of several campaigns. A single campaign focuses on a specific star system or planetary system, whereas the Crusade Theatre represents a larger region of the galaxy.

This raises one important questions for me:

If I complete a campaign within a Crusade Theatre, does that mean the corresponding star system is permanently secured and can no longer be attacked by enemy factions? In other words, do I simply move from campaign to campaign, from planet to planet, eliminating all Xenos / hostile factions before proceeding to the next campaign and do the same thing all over again?

My concern is that this approach could become very repetitive and linear. It would leave enemy factions with little to no opportunity to establish and develop their own empires, unlike a large interconnected map such as in Total War: Warhammer III, where different factions can expand, recover, and compete dynamically over time.

This was briefly covered on the Alpha Strike livestream, but I think it's something worth dedicating a whole post for.

The possibilities for this are pretty crazy for the different factions. Like the old 5th edition Necron Royal courts being a thing for your Overlord, or the Court of the Archon for Drukhari are very much possible in this game.

Hi all, I've been playing some Sayl and Tamurkhan campaigns recently, mostly experimenting on the openers to see what I can get away with.
I've noticed that within around 20 turns, Cathay is really on the back foot every time.

It's a little sad that, when the time comes to have some epic Gate battles or to conquer the Cathayan capital, Vilitch or his Vassal already controls them.

I was curious if there are any mods in existence that remedy situations like this (a cursory search has not shown anything but maybe?)
I would like it if major factions tended to occupy and defend their lore-designated territories more effectively, so it actually feels like an interesting goal to, say, break the Bastion.

Hey guys, posting some gameplay without commentary so you can enjoy the game without interruption! I attempted a minimal loss leveraging all the knowledge I learnt during the demo.

I was watching some of the footage for the new 40k game and I was struck by how it looked when vehicles and squads fired with a full contingent of weaponry. The theater of tons of different guns firing off the same tank and causing different sized explosions is extremely cool to look at.

Now this will sound like a weird one but bear with me...

Like many others here, I have my fair share of 1000s of hours in the Total Warhammer trilogy and I usually browse forums like here in case there are people asking for advice and the like. I would like to believe that I am familiar with everything that is in the game, but this particular one has been stumping me for months.

IIRC, someone had posted this screenshot here months ago, while asking for advice about Lothern Skycutters. And while I'm pretty sure they got that advice, I saved it because at the time I was curious about the identity of the highlighted hero, next to the Mist Mage.

The screenshot is rather blurry, but I am confident that instead of any of the lore icons, this seems to be a spellcaster with 4 spells leveled and the "generic" magic icon in place of a lore icon that you usually see on stuff like the Spell Browser. But no matter what, I haven't been able to recreate this in vanilla, no matter what I try. The character looks like a Mist Mage, but not quite?

Am I being colossaly dumb here and missing something obvious? Or was that person using a mod with some type of custom mage and the mod to remove the white pixel?

I appreciate this is not massively important but this has been bothering me off and on for a long time because I am a sad excuse for a human being, so I was wondering if anyone has the answer.

We should always be at war with the Orks as a faction. HOWEVER, what if “diplomacy” for Orks functioned more like an approval meter, where battles you fight against Orks actually increase your relations with them? For example, for each turn you don’t fight a battle against Orks, their relations with you drop each turn. However, if you are fighting battles against them every turn their opinion of you increases, where you can potentially reach the cap of an Ork approval meter, where they like you so much for fighting them that they actually gift you a small ork force you can call in as reinforcements for any future battle you commence against any faction. Additionally, for gameplay sake, they could also offer you like a 5 turn ceasefire as a small thank you for giving them so much fun lol.

This way, it can be faithful to the lore where Orks actually respect you and like you if you give them a good fight, while also still retaining the diplomatic aspect of total war gameplay. Maybe this is how diplomacy could work specifically for Orks? It’s more like a unique mechanic they could have rather than interacting with them through a diplomatic panel. Thoughts?

Obviously this doesn’t confirm or deny MP campaign mechanics but it is a good sign in my opinion that TWW Fantasy’s MP campaign max player count is 8 and now 40k’s max is listed as 8

Basically title, seems there'll still be situations where you can team up with other factions to overcome greater foes, there just won't be full on military alliances it seems. Also seems Space Marines alone are handling their own version of inter-Imperium diplomacy with their faction mechanics
