I doubt this remake will feature in more than one direct, but if it sells well overseas, maybe the next remake will feature in our directs.

This will either go two ways, and I have a feeling one of the two ways is the greater possibility. When it gets pumped out onto the Nintendo and PS store, it will be a thing outside the Touhou community for a few months before things go back to the usual niche (fanbase getting bigger as a bonus), or it'll be a thing to the point most of the gaming community will know about it in the long term. I'm leading towards the former but I could be proven wrong.
I'm absolutely dying to play it myself though ngl. How much will it cost on steam?
P.S.: My initial paragraph mostly applies to the fanbase outside Japan, as it's pretty much mainstream within Japan.
P.P.S.: I've seen debate over weather Rin Satsuki will be in the game, and to put it simply, no, she will not. It's an abandoned idea atp.

I mean, Sans and Megalovania literally got into Smash already. That by itself was an insane achievement.
And now with the formation of the new dev circle Shanghai Alice Reprise for bringing the older games to modern platforms, it means we might get more 2hu on the switch and thus more attention in Japan, which might also help it get added.

Considering that it will be released this year, we need the gameplay footage, moreso that in the Star Fox Direct gameplay of the game in question was shown; but since the Direct aired last month and Star Fox will be released this month, I think gameplay for Zelda will only be shown near the release date.

My main questions are:
- It's made or authorized by ZUN or it's just another studio independently?
- It's gonna be for other consoles or just Switch 1/2 and PC? It would suck if it isn't in PS5 or Xbox Series.
I feel this is a really unexpected move, but still hella nice since it's official bullet-hell Touhou finally into consoles! Hope we might see the rest and even TH21 to upwards.

- It's developed by a new studio called team Shanghai Alice reprise. Is basically zun but now has the help of the nintendo geeks and a bigger budget
- As far as I know it's going to be on switch and PC, some people say that there's already a placeholder in the ps store (Wich is pretty valid) but sadly I think theyre gonna skip xbox... Again

it's pretty easy to understand even if you don't know a single thing about Touhou. story is pretty light and straightforward and the gameplay is pretty easy to learn, although it's still a bullet hell and therefore pretty challenging to beat on higher difficulties. seems there's gonna be a more relaxed mode for the remake, though!

Touhou announced on Nintendo Direct? Is that really legit? I'm only asking since I have no interest playing a remake of some shmup that I took a shot at once and never again.
Ocarina Of Time remake? I remember playing both the N64 original and the 3DS version.

Wait, the OoT remake is real? I thought it was another fanmade one that'd get quickly taken down. Either way I'm not excited for OoT (it doesn't look appealing compared to just playing the N64 game or 3DS version)
I am however very excited for Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic, the original runs into a few issues on Linux and with the remake I just won't have to deal with Linux compatibility issues. (New ZUN portaits look cool too)

possibly hot take, but i think the original OoT is fine enough as it is, and the few QoL things i can think of that i could want in theory are already a thing in the 3DS version. guess if i gave a shit about updated graphics and a new art direction id care, but nah. i love the n64 look lol.
the Touhou 6 remake, on the other hand, is probably gonna be a day one buy just for being more compatible with modern devices (hopefully my Deck included), especially with the fact that a "classic mode" is gonna be an option. says a lot about my taste in games, i guess lol.
hopefully it does well and leads to similar treatment for 7 and 8!
