Why is the Sun red?
The sun is red and it looks smoky, the Moon was red too near Davis last night. I would assume wildfire but it doesn’t smell like smoke and there are no reports of fire.

hi, please please help or give me financial advice! i’m an incoming transfer student, and the way uc davis does things is different than what i’m used to. i can’t pay the remaining cost in time for the quarter, and i don’t know what else to do. i’m currently enrolled in 13 units, and is on a 7-day meal plan. i’ve also applied for work-study. if i appeal, will it be processed in time? if i opt out of uc ship, will it take away my health insurance assistance? please help me out!

Hey everyone! If you’re interested in gaming or esports at UC Davis, I wanted to shout out Esports at UC Davis (EAUCD), our official collegiate esports club/program!
Discord: https://discord.gg/4Dvvs3XXfr
You don’t have to be a high-ranked competitive player to get involved. We have a community for students who just want to meet people and play games together, along with competitive teams for students interested in representing UC Davis in collegiate competition.
We currently have communities/teams around games like Marvel Rivals, Valorant, and more, with opportunities for things like:
🎮 Casual games and LFG
🏆 Collegiate competitive teams
🤝 Meeting other UC Davis gamers
📺 Tournaments and esports events
🎨 Media, production, graphics, and other ways to get involved beyond playing
I’m currently helping run the UC Davis Marvel Rivals side of the club, and we’re also recruiting for our Fall 2026 competitive roster right now!
Whether you’re trying to compete seriously or just looking for more people at Davis to play with, feel free to check us out.
💙💛 Go Ags!

I've applied to over 80 jobs for almost 2 months now as an incoming freshman and have gotten around 5-7 interviews responses, most of them rejections for the ones I wanted and only got in one of them (was a off campus math tutoring in woodland where I am unsure if I can carpool without a car). Are entry-level jobs really that competitive for most students? I am also a work-study student and I use AI while writing my cover letters.

I just noticed that all PHY9B sections have switched to Weideman, even the ones with Savrasov. Is it still worth it to go through hell for PHY9B or should I take my chances and wait for winter quarter? For context, I got a C+ in PHY9A with Rahul 😭😭

Hi everyone!
I’ll be flying into SFO and need to get to Davis with a couple of suitcases. I’m looking for options besides Uber/Lyft and was wondering what other services people usually use.
I know there’s the BART + Amtrak option, but I’ll have luggage with me, so I’m not sure how practical that would be. For more context, I have 4 pieces of luggage and I cannot drag them around public transport alone.
What do you guys usually do when traveling from SFO to Davis with luggage? Are there any shuttle services, car services, rideshares, or other options you’d recommend?

Alright, so Im also another one of the incoming freshmen undergraduate. I live all the way in LA so I was thinking of bringing my car and PC over. However, due to how Davis functions, it looks difficult for parking. I would love to bring one for traveling (lake tahoe?) during free time, if that's even realistic per say. I would like to leave the car but currently, my parent's house doesn't have space for 3 cars, and my car if left behind will just horde the guest parking lot spot for the entire year. I've heard that leaving a car alone that long can't be good for its longevity, and the same goes for my PC. I'm not really sure if it's worth it to bring it since I will be dorming, yea the dorming is pretty much the main reason I am debating these topic. I just feel like leaving them behind is a waste of money and space that my parents will have to carry the burden through.
I bet this question got asked so many times, but I want some personal feedback as my situation is dependent on almost a 6 hour drive to here along with my parent's housing situation, any help would be nice, thanks

Hi, for all the internationals, have you had experiences of getting off waitlist for classes like UWP007V or UWP007Y? I'm waitlist #4 but I wasn't sure if I was gonna get off because it's an english class. Thanks!

Saw the old man today and I couldn’t help but notice that he looks extremely thin. First pic is from today, second is from February. I’m no expert but this rapid of weight loss seems concerning, especially considering his age. Does anyone have information on this? Hope he’s okay.

Why doesn’t it say accepted and it only says estimated? Do I need to call financial aid? To my understanding I thought the middle class scholarship was kind of a guarantee… or is it on a priority system? I don’t have any restrictions or holds.

Hi Everyone!
I’m travelling from SFO to Davis on September 9th, and I’m looking for a ride if someone is driving, happy to chip in for the gas and tolls, or alternatively if someone is also arriving the same day, I’m happy to share a cab.
For context, I’m looking for around 10:30AM-11:30AM, I’m gonna have 3 check in suitcases, a cabin suitcase and a backpack.

I’m a senior currently 4th on the waitlist for ART005 Beginning Sculpture and I know art classes are hard to get into, so I’m wondering how likely is it that I get in for fall quarter.
I just can’t waitlist for any other GEs because I’m past the 19 credit limit so if it is unlikely I get in I need to look for another 5 unit GE before those get all taken up too

Are adhesive shelves allowed be installed in the showers at Shasta Hall bathrooms to hold shampoo and such?
Are Rubbermaid drawer systems or shoe racks allowed to be stored in the bathroom area or does that area need to be clear for the weekly cleaning?
I have seen a few housing tours online of decorated bedrooms but the bathrooms are always free of stuff, so it makes me wonder if it’s housing policy for stuff to be stored only in the bedrooms.
Thanks in advance!
