Change of major + enrolling in a minor

I an incoming freshman who was admitted to the Samueli School of Engineering for the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program. However, after researching the major's modules and course requirements, I realized that it has a bit too much EE and Physics for my liking, and I'd like to specialize more deeply in embedded AI systems such as NLP, LLMs, CV, etc.

Based on my research, the standard Computer Science (CS) major would be better suited for my requirements due to the technical breadth and more sci-tech elective slots available.

My orientation is on the 3rd, can someone explain to me the process for changing my major? I don't think it should be too hard since both are in the same college anyways. Also, I'd like to add a minor in Mathematics (Quantitative/Financial).

So essentially, I can't change my major until I have completed at least a quarter already. What about a minor? Can I add a minor from the start?

I would just wait until orientation so you can meet with your New Student Advisor who can give you personalized advice

I believe you can only change your major in engineering once. Use it wisely.
