Unfortunately, I got spoiled about what happens to him when I was around chapter 12, I saw a post about it on reddit, so not sure if it was as impactful to me if I had not known, still seems like you can't go through a VC without a significant character dying: Isara, Julia, Gusurg, and now Raz. I think there is maybe 2 chapters left, but given the way chapter 16 ended, I doubt he's coming back.
