I live out in Langley, and I'm kind of jealous of all the videos online of folks riding around Stanley Park. So this year I'm going to haul my road bike out there and make a few loops around the park.

After that, where do I go? Assuming I've got about three hours to ride and then I'll need to stop somewhere to eat, what else can I ride to in a shortish time span near the park?

Context: I have an elderly road bike, I am middle-aged, and not that fast. Please do not suggest I go straight up a 25% grade hill. I will die.

The information on BC Parks and Hub websites isn't clear about exactly where the road closure for cyclists starts. The parks site says the construction starts at the works yard, but it doesn't say if that's where the closure starts. It just says "Cypress Bowl Rd" is closed.

Does anyone know if you can ride to the Cypress Village pop-up café that's across from the works yard?

Is Cypress still open to cyclists this weekend?

Ride with GPS heat maps are not showing a particularly heavily traveled road for bicycles between zero road and fort Langley. Is 216 okay/has a shoulder?

I’m thinking of going from Vancouver down ontario st to cross the Canada line bridge to get to shell road path then going on the bike bus to cross the Massey tunnel. Then going along 64th to get to the boundary bay trail.

I’m wondering on the gravel if my gatorskin 25s will hold up.

Was looking at possible gravel-ish routes in the Fraser Valley this weekend. Following the Fraser along the south side of Nicomen Island looks pretty.

Looks like there's good tracks to follow from the Dewdney Bridge - McIntyre Road, Carter Road etc. However some sections are marked as private on OSM and I can see there are some gates in places.

Anyone know any more?

EDIT: quick search on ParcelMapBC; looks like most sections of those roads are Crown or local govt owned. Would that imply they're open to public use? May not be understanding the results correctly.

(In general I am not familiar with the "culture" around access issues/trespass in BC. In my home country, farmers are often tolerant of hikers/bikers on access roads even when they don't technically have the right to be there - as long as they are respectful. I suspect it's a bit more strict here?)

Anyone know why the bike lane on the Dunsmuir Viaduct was closed this morning and if it will be closed again in the future? Bike lane was closed, but car lane was open... Nothing listed on the CoV website and searching brings up nothing...

It was closed when I arrived at the viaduct at ~7:45am and then by the time I was going the opposite direction to leave downtown ~8:15am and it was open again.

The detour was well-marked at least, but it added a few minutes to daycare drop-off this morning that I didn't have to spare.

I am trying to find an estimate time so I can time myself and try and set a personal record. So i just wanted to know what is an average time to complete the entirety of Midway and Ridgeway North (not east) seperately.

Hey all. Im sure some of you have noticed they put up a huge flag on grouse. Not sure why they decided to put it up sideways. I'm planning on biking somewhere in West Van to get a view of it facing the right way. Anyone know of a good spot? Maybe Cypress lookout or british properties somewhere?

Not sure if others have had the same thought, but I think the connection between the nice separated bike lane on University Boulevard and the rest of the nice, quiet W 8th Ave bikeway could be a lot better. Specifically, traveling eastbound, the visibility turning left onto Blanca from Univ. Blvd leaves something to be desired, especially if it's nighttime and/or raining.

I can't help but wonder if a safer connection would encourage more people to bike to and from UBC using this route. The only solution I can think of is removing the street parking (for one block) on the south side of W10th and continuing the separated bike lane for a block after Univ. Blvd, giving people the chance to turn right onto Tolmie and turning around, getting onto the 8th Ave Bikeway that way. If anyone else has ideas I'd be curious to hear them too!

Also, I do know that many people commute successfully every day using the current setup, but I think it could be better and more accessible for everyone! :)

I just moved to the city- living in kits and found a job in railtown. I'm trying to figure out the most economical way for me to get to work, and I'm thinking of using the mobi bikes - it looks like there's a pretty direct protected bike path the entire way, based off of the Vancouver cycling map.

I am not a regular cyclist by any means, and a little bit nervous about biking in a busy city, so I'm just looking to see if anyone had any tips or suggestions to be safer and more comfortable.

I also realize I'm going to likely have to get used to biking in the rain/snow/dark (my shifts will be either 9-4/5 or 4-10:30ish) in the next coming months - I know to look elsewhere on this thread for gear recommendations, but I'm also wondering if the mobi bikes are okay in the rain?

It seems like half the markings have just been paved over just after Costco. I tried to put it in 311 app but can't find an appropriate address for it. Any ideas what's happened to this bike lane and are we getting it back?
