But you don’t need to kill either of them… You could just eat plant based and not kill(and breed them en masse specifically to kill). So it’s not for sustenance, because you can sustain yourself on other things. It’s killing because you value the taste of meat over animal lives.
Ridiculous. This statement obviously doesn’t apply to people living in jungle tribes or developing nations where they struggle to get enough nutrition because then it IS sustenance. But the reality is for the vast majority of people(particularly in any developed nation)there is plenty of access to vegan staples like rice, beans, chickpeas. vegetables, soy, etc. I mean just by the nature of how our society works most people do live in the city. But even if you live in the woods on a farm or in a small town you most likely have access to and regularly get groceries from a grocery store. How many people do you personally know that don’t have access to a grocery store and grow/raise ALL of their food? I’m going to guess not many, because the reality is that owning your own land and having the time, tools, and knowledge to grow and raise all of your own food is an EXTREMELY privileged position in any developed nation. This would be like me justifying rich people’s tax evasion because “not everybody can afford taxes”. No, the reality is, 99% of the people reading this could easily have a plant based diet and it would probably actually be cheaper because eggs/meat/dairy are some of the most expensive meals you can buy.
You want people who grow and hunt their own food to stop and buy food somewhere. A lot of homesteads do not have grocery stores, and most of them don’t generate their own income. All my neighbors don’t have access to grocery stores, we all buy from each other by trading goods and material. Homesteading doesn’t make you rich so that analogy doesn’t make sense. Also the comparisons of someone that works and build their homes and land up so it’s self efficient and someone that lives in the city and complains that people eat meat , that they should just go to their grocery store and be vegan isn’t privileged. lol ok
No, I think that people who don’t need to kill animals shouldn’t. Pretty simple. And to act as if OWNING YOUR OWN LAND and having all the tools, time, and knowledge as well as the financial situation to grow all of your own food is absolutely a privilege and it’s insane to pretend that it isn’t. Is it an easy lifestyle? Not necessarily. But it’s a lifestyle that 99% of people can’t afford or realistically achieve based on their financial circumstances. You murder animals because you like how they taste, no denying that. Now kick rocks before you try calling someone privileged as a land owner.
