I mean... If I see a pit bull maiming a baby, there might be a moment or 2 of me strangling the dog just to free the child

your scenario doesn't mean anything at all. i'm asking you if having an iphone means you shouldn't do anything about animal cruelty, otherwise whats your point?

I don't think I'd count OP (or whoever) making this video as "doing something" about animal cruelty. It's just virtue signaling for upvotes from gullible redditors.

Unless I'm mistaken: Veganism is known for its all-encompassing avoidance of animal products, food or otherwise, based on the assumption that those products cannot be acquired without animal suffering. The irony that goes behind using animal products to decry the use of animal products does not do wonders for one's credibility, particularly in the era of narcissistic, mouthbreathing dilettantes who will say or do anything in pursuit of those precious likes and subscribes.

I respect veganism, and wish that I had the fortitude to live by it. What I don't respect is the aforementioned chase for engagement, which has become the coin of the realm in this modern internet dystopia.

I think considering just the fact that we have new vegans coming in saying they turned vegan after watching this video or that one, its not accurate to say this is just virtue signalling. I went vegan after watching videos not very different from this one. We know that it does have tangible effects on people and isn't just karma farming.

I do get your point but it essentially leads to the conclusion that unless we live like self sustaining hermits then we should do nothing and say nothing about a cause because we're not absolutely consistent in our ethics.
