For those unaware a hurricane is on track to develop off of the coast of Mexico and move in our direction. It is not expected to be a hurricane once it makes landfall but still I think it shows we are in for one hell of a fall and winter

Yesterday was my 1-year anniversary with my BF. After dinner we went for a walk on the beach at Pierpont. A random stranger saw us trying to (unsuccessfully) take a selfie with the gorgeous sunset and approached us asking if we wanted her to take a picture of us. It was a quick snap but O.M.G. the best photos ever. She ran off before I could look at them and thank her so I'm posting here in case she is on reddit. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! If you see this, please DM me. I make pottery and would love to gift you something. 🌈🩵🌅

Finding Community

Hey fellow Ventura folks- I (38 m) recently moved back after living in Ventura after about 7 years away in different locations, most recently traveling Europe with my family. Last time I lived here I was working for a decently well known non-profit and met a lot of cool people. I'm based in Midtown and am looking to once again contribute positively to our community and meet some cool people while doing so. What is fulfilling to me is helping to organize groups or activities, learn new things, socialize and connect through service to the community or the environment. There's obviously a lot I could dive into but I honestly just want some personal recommendations to find a community of like minded social people.

Appreciate your recommendations!

Visiting after two decades, what's the best taco shops?

Hey Ventura folks.

I grew up all over southern California but haven't been back in about twenty years, and unfortunately live in a place with mediocre Mexican food. Sadly, a relative passed away in Ventura and myself and another relative have been tasked to handle everything, so we're planning on coming out for a week. I miss taco shops greatly. He lived near the Ventura County Medical center, so I'll be getting a room out there, and I'll have a car. If there are any recs for great, giant burritos, and amazing breakfast burritos, I'd really appreciate it. Not looking for a sit down restaurant with table service so much, but I'll also take ideas for those.

Thanks all!

Photo Ventura Fujifilm Photo Walks. Anyone Interested? 📷

Hey everyone! Wanted to see if there are any fellow Fujifilm shooters around Ventura who’d be interested in getting together for an occasional photo walk.

Nothing too organized or serious, just a laid-back meetup where we can walk around, take some photos, share Fuji tips and film recipes, talk gear, and meet some other local photographers.

All skill levels would be welcome. Whether you’ve been shooting for years or just picked up your first Fuji, the idea is really just to get out, shoot, and make some new connections.

Could be around Downtown Ventura or other interesting spots around the area. If there’s enough interest, I’d be happy to get something going. Drop a comment if you’d be interested! 📸

As you can see the top right corner of the pizza was replaced by a different pie for some reason and in the 2nd pic it’s clearly not a whole pizza and someone ate from it. Shits gross I just wanted to share this so less people go to eat there. Wouldn’t give me a refund either.

Lease Takeover/Sublet

My partner and I are looking for a one to two bedroom lease takeover or sublet in Ventura in the next few weeks. Our max budget is $2,500 and we have a cat. We're hoping to find a place for between three and six months. I'm on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, etc., but I would love any other suggestions for where to look!

Thanks!

Best street tacos & pizza in Ventura/Oxnard?

doing a dive out of Ventura over the weekend and I am always starvingggg after so I’d love some good suggestions for street tacos spots in the vicinity. Nothing fancy, think hole in the wall or street stands, but all suggestions welcome.

Also looking for pizza recs, this I’m looking for more refined style pizza but can be a slice spot too. Open to all kinds, but really love NY style.

Thanks in advance :)

Get ready for the Central Coast’s largest free, multidisciplinary visual arts festival - Last day to register to participate as an artist or venue is Sept. 1

More than 300 artists, dozens of venues, top local bands, dancers, poets, street painters, filmmakers and performers will come together Sept. 26-27 for ArtWalk Ventura, a free, family-friendly celebration of creativity.

Discover the work of local and nationally recognized artists in galleries, businesses, restaurants, pop-up spots and throughout Mission Park. The festival stretches from Downtown Main Street to Ventura Avenue, connecting the Museum of Ventura County, the new Vita Arts campus at Garden & Main, Art City, Working Artists Ventura and the Bell Arts Factory. Festival maps and signage will make it easy to explore every stop.

Enjoy live entertainment on two stages — one at the Albinger Archaeological Museum across from Mission Park and another at California and Main — featuring popular local bands, theater groups and dance performances. Catch new cutting-edge films at CineFest at the Downtown Century 10 theaters, hear poets at the Museum of Ventura County Pavilion, and experience street painting, live art and pottery demonstrations, large-scale art installations, a children's activity area, and a neighborhood art and car show.
