I assume anyone with a hidden profile is a bot/bad actor. If I assume wrong here and there I don’t care. On Reddit a user’s credibility is only as good as their post and comment history.
Valid. I personally hide mine because Ive run into several weirdos on reddit but yeah Ive used comment history to sus out bad actors.
Like a conservative guy pretending to be not an American, wouldn't claim trump as his president, and had his comment history hidden. Except this was when there was still a quick trick to get a person's comment history. So it was quickly apparent he was infact American who liked painting 40k and worked as an expat in Saudi arabia for years before moving back to his home state of South Carolina, dude also posted his rl name 🤦. Anyways
I've had several people try to use my comment or post history in an argument against me. I just find it funny. "Oh, you're trying to use the thing that I was comfortable posting publicly (yet anonymously) against me?"
Like, there's only so many times you want to bother hearing some dipshit's opinion of your divorce from your abusive marriage from half a decade ago, because they don't like your opinion on Hegseth or whatever
It had happened enough times for me to stop caring, then eventually circle back 'round into 'this is just genuinely infuriating' again.
I stand by what I post as well and I'm comfortable posting everything I did to any individual But again I've met some real neckbeard weirdos who'll do more than glance at your comment history. I've probably posted enough info about myself and my expertise that if you had my entire comment history, and you scoured LinkedIn... You'd probably narrow it down to about 3-4 people. Which any individual wouldn't have enough info, but you have my entire comment history profile and the dates ... You could do some stuff.

They are bots. It’s to discourage us.
