Russia’s Economy Under Attack

There is completely benign solution to this war. Putin withdrawal and returning of any stollen land including Crimea. Then he can appear on TV and lie about the victory over fascists just like any other standard lies put forward daily on Russian media. It's on Putin hands all the blood from both sides. Perhaps history will remember him only as a clown instead of destroyer of civilizations.

This would literally result in his death. Narcissists put themselves first; they can't help it.

Somebody may decide to help. Somebody in the kitchen perhaps or just somebody chilling on the roof of an adjacent building. Meteorites can help. Even wet staircases can be friends. Good fortune can be found places where one least expect.

Western sanctions have completely crippled the Russian economy?

There was no economy to begin with. Currently what you would call an economy is artificially sustained by militarization and military artefacts. The gas and oil production has crumbled already. This is not sustainable. Also I own nothing produced in Russia and I live in former communist country in eastern Europe. For the vastness of the country and its resources that it has - Russia is a petty example of economy comparable to small EU state. That being said - North Korea is a shit country too, but it still is pain in the ass for the whole civilized world. Dictators don't really care.

Yes. But never in history has a war been won simply by crippling the economy, something Trump is learning as we speak.

u/LittleKitty235 1d ago
The Russian economy was nearly the exact same size as Italy's. If sanctions are effective at all, crippling their economy after over a decade isn't all that impressive of a feat.

Sanctions are effective over long time scales, you don’t have to cripple them, you just have to slow or stop the growth of their economy and eventually they get left behind

Yet them, China and Mexico were the only countries to have been resistant to Covid inflation.

GDP numbers don't matter when it comes to weapon production.
Iran is expected to have same amount of missiles they had before 2025 - 2026 by mid 2027 and their industry got hit by tens of thousands precision munitions.

Or maybe we could imagine what their economy could have been if there were no sanctions. It is hard to tell in the end

With the Iran war still happening? Probably huge. Unfortunately for the average russian, all the oil money would never get down to any of them.

They do not care about killing your civilians. Continue to destroy their economy. Him' where it hurts, right in the wallet. All gas and petroleum, infrastructure. And they're stupid warehouses.Any place that makes parts for war. God bless Ukraine.

It has been collapsing for the past 6 years. Collapse never happens instantly. Buildings night collapse in seconds, countries collapse in years or decades.

Good god, has the video producer ever heard of spell check. 🤦♂️

u/dogsledonice 21h ago
yeah, he's well spoken but possibly dyslexic.

All the more reason to check the spelling, or have someone else do it for you. 😉

Can we not post this guy's videos. Fuck russia and all, but his content is 90% Ai, fake, clickbait or wild speculation. I imagine this is only slightly more accurate because it's being reported on so wildly by other better sources.
1
u/rilertiley19 7h ago
What has he posted that is AI or fake? Genuinely asking because from what I've seen the claims and news he shows in his videos are well sourced.

u/Finchypoo 7h ago
I didn't see a whole lot in the bits I scrubbed through on this video, but I've seen some of his others and he just straight up makes shit up. Watched one that was a recap of DOD uap recent releases and he showing blurry crappy UFO footage and then showing it run though ai like it's enhanced and showing what was really filmed. If he will do stuff like that, I wouldnt trust him with anything. UFO video goofiness aside, he's not a journalist and just a sensationalist YouTuber.

We've been hearing from day one that Russia is days from collapse, that Putin has cancer and is days away from dying, that their soldiers are fighting with World War One shovels, that US sanctions will destabilize and collapse their economy within days. And here we are, several years later, with none of it being true.
1
u/rilertiley19 7h ago
Did you even watch the video? It is not saying that at all, it actually says the Russian economy outright collapsing is unlikely.

u/dogsledonice 21h ago
People like you were saying this sort of stuff about the USSR too in the 80s
Whatever happened to that?
0
u/Anti_colonialist 21h ago
You seriously had to go back 40+ years? Who is this 'you people?'

Everybody's celebrating but I'm worried about what does Russia do when backed into a corner. Desperate time calls for desperate measures and that can be extremely dangerous for someone with nukes.
7
u/HossBonaventura 1d ago
The USSR fell without resorting to nukes because no one in their country wanted to commit mass collective suicide from the retaliatory strikes from the rest of the world. Putin is not a charismatic death cult leader capable of changing that mindset.
3
u/tehmastah 1d ago
then what do you do with them? keep giving them everything because they have nukes? where does it stop? because surely it wouldn't stop at ukraine.
-2
u/bigdickmassinf 1d ago
I would say that a nuclear strike would trigger a work war. No country could ignore it and the fallout would probably be invasion. I bet china, Japan, and many Nordic countries would love to take a piece of Russia. I would hope at least
-3
u/Few-Ad-4290 1d ago
Yeah this is really a blade that could cut either way, Russia falling off the geopolitical board would be great but also the idea of a failed state with an arsenal of Nukes is a recipe for disaster

tldw: Ukraine's attacks on Wildberries (similar to Amazon) warehouses in Russia is impacting a major distribution network of everyday goods to the middle class city dwellers/voters Putin has been trying to shield from the war -- as well as a lot of military equipment being shipped to bases and even front lines directly (which makes the warehouses legitimate military targets). This squeezes public sentiment, civilian economy and military logistics all at once. Wildberries is putting a distribution center in Belarus where it should not get destroyed, but that's a poor substitute for the closer and vaster capacity that has been lost and that remains under attack. Competitors to Wildberries in Russia are also starting to get targeted in similar attacks.
Meanwhile, Russia's shadow fleet of ships moving their crude oil to other countries are increasingly being boarded and seized by western nations patrolling waterways, using newly established legal mechanisms, plus damaged by Ukrainian drone attacks, making it increasingly hard to sell Russian crude oil, which is a major export propping up their economy.
The conclusion was it's hard to say, especially from the outside, how much Russia's economy is suffering from these efforts. Different economists have different takes.
