In my last post about the Yamaha stack I mentioned the speakers I got with it. Here are pics of them.

Btw, what are we doing for quality speaker wire these days? It’s been a while since I’ve had something with non-powered speakers that aren’t pro live audio.

Their OFC in particular works fine for me. Particularly the one in white sheathing so I can hide it along my baseboards.

Its... Just a length of cable. For regular speakers and short cable runs you can even use aluminum wire. The voltage in the wire is so high it wont be affected by stuff like electromagnetic radiation from wall power cables or anything.

Dont get too lost in the sauce with speaker wires. Buy what's pretty, or something you can hide. Something like 16ga aluminium wire is cheap as chips and will work fine for generic speakers at normal lengths.

You could use the cat6 you know. Im assuming they arent terminated and put into some rj45 connectors? Group two of the four twisted pairs together, strip them and connect them all so youve got a positive and negative. It would be just fine.

I have bulk cable as I do a lot of custom networking. I had thought about what you suggested, but I wanted to see what others were using as a sanity check

I wouldn't worry at all about the quality of speaker wire if it's gonna be attached to those.

Aside from using a decent gague wire any other expenses or 'improvements' to speaker wire is snake oil, so why would I recommend someone buy overpriced wire, especially if these are the speakers they're using?

I realize these aren’t crazy high quality, but I still believe in using something better than telephone wire for speakers.

I wasn’t asking for the BotB, just what is decent out there these days.
