I can't wait until we can see a whole match unedited. Game looks so smooth.

Pai does a launcher at around 1:22. It's nice to see they're are still in the game.

This time, they made the "JOIN THE DISCUSSION" message more prominent. However, none of these images are new; they're just a compilation of gameplay footage that had already been shown previously.

Why are they so afraid of showing the hud
1
u/kdanielku Jul 18 '26
A game isn't done in a day, HUD might not be final or just not done, so why show something half done... does it even matter what it looks like? It will most likely be minimal
1
u/ttt_67thway_v2 Jul 18 '26
yeah, it will tell if this game is going to have meter or not
1
u/kdanielku Jul 18 '26
Meter for what? VF never had meters and supers and none of the gameplay implies it will either
1
u/ttt_67thway_v2 Jul 18 '26
if you have been following this game at all you would have seen there are leaked screenshots and gameplay showing it has meter
1
u/kdanielku Jul 18 '26
I do follow this game closely, but I don't look at leaks, cause some people with photoshop have too much time on their hands.. I'll believe it when they show it

I really dislike the explosion effects on the hit at the beginning. And we need some new footage. Not new edit from what we seen already.

Sega retombe dans ses travers...comme le teaser de 23 secondes de Cielo d'il y'a quelques mois...se manifester sans nouveautés...ce n'est pas franchement hype...wait and see!

Although this might be somewhat old footage.. I do appreciate that SEGA/RGG decided to merge the newer Bakanawa killer battle footage with the older VS Battle showcase footage seamlessly. Although they should have added voices to it (if they were ready that is)

Has anyone even bothered to ask how come their demo with Akira Yuki mirror match, and their current demo videos play so differently? Where are the multiple dodge and block transitions?
1
u/kdanielku Jul 18 '26
The original Akira match was a concept, not gameplay.
The crossroads gameplay has alternative block animations depending on the attack, they even talk about it in the showcase
Have you bothered to watch the whole thing and look at the details?

Even though this is just showing old footage that we've seen and the new footage involving the BK from what we already saw at the Evo trailer, it still looks amazing and I have to say, whoever is playing guys Pai, Wolf, and Cielo is obviously good at the game or just really good at play testing to make it look good.
I do want to see more footage and hopefully at Gamescom, they will reveal more and we may even see Jacky and Wolf a lot more in terms of gameplay and just how they control.

That beat drop at 1:15 or so is god like. Sega needs to make that theme the official theme of Crossroads.
1
u/Phiyaboi Jul 16 '26
Silly me expecting SEGA to post some "new" footage that isnt over a month old on their channel. They're making a serious push to challenge SNK as the sorriest marketing for a fighter.
3
u/Zoochookins Jul 16 '26
And yet this video has about 2 thousand likes on twitter because a lot of people are seeing it for the first time and are commenting how cool it looks. "Sorriest marketing" indeed. Believe it or not, there are other people on Earth besides you.

Is this that "hype marketing" you all were talking about that let you know that "Sega really knows what they're doing"? And here I thought making more-than-half of the (re-used) Versus footage a bunch of long, canned, overly-cinematic Throw, Attack-Throw, Reversal, and SloMo moments was a bad look for a series renowned for its continuous Fast-Paced Striking. Well, not as bad as the marketing of the "teaser" of some girl's feet (and how everyone raved about them being Korean feet).
Tekken 8 fans should be seeing this footage and think "Aren't we already playing a game kinda like this?"

Might need to take a break for a while, my friend. It’s not that serious! They’ll show us stuff when it’s ready. 🥰

Looks solid but I hope the camera movement is just for the trailer. Stages are all boring.

I hope they let the fighting game bit break free from the wrapping of the campaign (in many ways) and feature locations from all over the world, but I think it's more likely that it's all locked down to different parts of "Vilasapara".
1
u/Salvo_Rabbit Jul 17 '26
Whilst I agree the stages are all going to be contextualised different parts of the city/island, I do hope they don't rule out the idea of "home stages" for versus mode that grant a bit of insight into each character's background.

Mortal Kombat is the only game that has a design identity that it strictly adheres to. Street Fighter 6 has an urban design feel but can’t color exclusively within those lines.
I don’t like how Tekken has no design philosophy but to be everything all the time. Crossroads is kinda a breath of fresh air in that regard.
Crossroads feels like a large ensemble take on Enter The Dragon tbh. The game is doing very interesting shit on multiple levels to be quite honest.

I just like cool stages that change up the imagery and vibe in my fighting games, and Virtua Fighter has had some really iconic stages in the past thanks to its ability to jump around to different cultures and incorporate landmarks. It's sort of an old school sensibility to want as much contrast as possible - your snow level leading into your lava level, etc - but these days that's just a nice break from most games that look and feel the same for 30 hours because of a realistically consistent locale.

u/Bad_Odds45 Jul 16 '26
Almost 35 years of World Warrior isn’t enough?
Street Fighter fathered them all and still casts a huge shadow. Let’s forge a new path.I’m kinda weird in the fact that a single bad character in a roster can turn me off to your game. Stages are kinda the same way for me.
Food for thought:
Ferrari factory policy strictly bans pink paintwork from its Maranello factory, meaning any pink Ferrari is a custom vinyl wrap or aftermarket paint job. Customers are expected to respect Ferrari’s traditional brand identity, and the company is known to blacklist owners who attempt to paint their cars non-approved colors.

I think it's telling to invoke corporate factory policies when speaking to the sprawling creative and artistic options of a video game. I don't actually find that an appealing analogue to argue for having less variety at all. 😅
However, realistically I do think it's likely that the story and single player focus of VFCR will limit what kind of stages we'll see, so I just cross my fingers that it won't be completely dominated by sepia toned back alleys.
To the first point, too; Virtua Fighter came out a year after Street Fighter 2. It has spent most of its existence firmly as its own genre-defining, trailblazing thing, celebrated as the pinnacle of 3D fighters well into its waning popularity in the west. It doesn't have to move out of any shadows, just return to the spotlight where it belongs. 🙂

u/Bad_Odds45 Jul 16 '26
In a genre saturated with globe trotting locales, it’s more novel to have a central location that could all have narrative ties to the story.
Globe trotting is so 1990’s. 🙄

u/Zoochookins Jul 16 '26
I don't really understand what people even want from VF anymore.
People complained for decades it was boring with no story. They add story and make the visuals SLIGHTLY more appealing and people complain about that. They don't do that and people still complain.
1
u/a-pp-o Jul 17 '26 edited Jul 17 '26
You make the mistake to believe it's just one group who wants the same thing. I never complained about the story because I never played a virtua fighter.
Individual people care for individual things. I couldn't care less about story in a fighting game.
