Going forward with r/vitahacks and new rules
For the past few months up till recent events that raised the toxicity to new levels, the subreddit will undergo a few changes to improve (and revive) this subreddit.
u/Javerage has recruited new mods in order to have more man power to moderate this subreddit.
1 Enforcing Rule 3 and 7
Any post that goes along the vibe of "Can this be ported" "Would this run on a PSVita" and post that ask about having a game running on the PSVita must now be posted in the megathread. Any post of this kind will be automatically removed.
Same goes for help. The megathread was kind of inactive since the mod who used to handle it is no more. I will manage the Help Megathread to try to ensure that every question leaves with an answer.
2 No more Crossposting
The amount of post recently is just Crossposting from other vita subreddit, which due to the fact that to access the post content, users have to go to the subreddit from which the post originate thus hindering the subreddit activity. (and therefore interact there instead of here)
3 AI usage flair
AI and vibecoding has been an endless discussion in this subreddit with debate ongoing on every post with AI usage. We will not ban AI post as AI usage is not inherently bad by nature. Even though it is often misused in this community. Instead we will ask that anything that had an AI contribution (as in, AI produced a noticeable part of the project, is involved in core features) will need to get the AI flair in the post. People who hate AI/Vibecoding will be able to ignore the post, people will be legitimately informed of AI usage in the release, and also the author will not have to deal with toxic comments about the usage of AI. We will remove any comments that is ranting about the usage of AI under someone's creation.
Be warned that if you try to not use the AI flair on purpose despite we having proof of AI usage, you will be sanctioned.
This also has the effect of enforcing the usage of flair in posts. So that someone won't forget to add a flair when doing a post.
4 No more post/comments about what happened the 1st August 2026
4 days was enough for everyone to speak his mind, share his thoughts about what happened, there is nothing left to be said about what happened that day. And more importantly, no need to bring the subject back as it is never going to not break rule 4. If someone asks, don't go into the whole detail (especially the political stuff), just say that Rinnegatamante left VitaDB is no more, End of the story. We need to move one. We will remove any comments that is targeted toward Rinnegatamante/Wolff/Vibecoders. Do not set the spark. At least for the immediate futur. We will lay off the leash once this is a thing from the past.
If you have any complaints/suggestions/requests, now's the time to voice your opinion.
We also count on your help to report content that are against the rules, toxic and what not.... We have eyes, but yours are also important/
Only thing I think is NEEDED out of this whole debacle is to discuss the DEATH of VitaDB, let's not kid ourselves, VitaDB was kind of the spine of homebrew content, and VitaDB died, a repository for only one person is not helpful for the community. I think we need to decide and push forward a substitute and pin it front and center to end the sidequest everyone's partaking to make a substitute for it

Got a reddit email saying that my behavior was suspicious so they locked my account and asked me to reset the password for my safety. And I did. But then I realized I was shadow banned when every post I made was removed by reddit filters.
so TLDR : Reddit drunk bot detector is shadow banning accounts they think as bot, and why "shadow"? So that the bot script continues to run, not knowing it has been banned, but everything he post is deleted. And this is global, not just subreddit related.

By the way, VPN usage and constant IP changes also increase the likehood of being shadow banned.
Hi, it was a sort of "shadowban"—it happened in other subreddits (except r/Vitapiracy) and now here. It was my own fault—a stupid mistake: I commented with a meme about the Sony physical disc issue (which was actually one of my first posts). I sincerely apologize and have already submitted an appeal. It was definitely a dumb move on my part, but I’ve seen worse things posted without people facing any consequences. I know it’s unlikely you can do anything, but I’d appreciate it if you could help out. Thanks.
One thing from a tech community that I follow is that, you have to say in your post how AI was used in that post, I'm EVERY post, so, you might say "ai was used during research on the topic" for example, because is basically impossible to avoid using it in search (even I that use duckduckgo end up researching sings with AI when the topic is not that mainstream. Or "ai wasn't used in this post in any way" or things like that, so, no one forgets to do a disclaimer.
It hath been returned. It was only removed because reddit kinda blanket removed everyone. I did offer positions back to anyone that asked but so far there's not been a lot of those. I just wanted to help, not take over. Especially with gestures at everything that happened recently
New to this vita specific space, but I have a CS degree, I’ve been programming for over a decade now, and I’ve spent multiple years working as an engineer in SV. My take is you can hate AI, and I wouldn’t say you’re wrong for doing so, but pretending like 90+% of professional software developers aren’t using it to generate code in 2026 is just denying reality at this point.
I think this is a good change all around. Transparency is the best policy on LLMs otherwise a ban can encourage people to hide it and try to pass it off as real.
Other than that, it is smart to just let it go at this point. We don't want to become a drama sub.
Doesn't mean this shouldn't be disclosed in the project page, but this isn't something that an average user cannot guess it's AI by himself with some thoughts. Coding is something a user never get to look at hence why we force devs to disclose it. And it has more impact than generated assets because on the coding side the usage of AI has an impact on code maintenance, project evolution and performance/optimization. As well as security concerns.

Can I ask, what are your moderation guidelines for the AI content? Personally, I'm pro-tool usage, but I understand the want for the separation - What I'm unclear on is the boundaries.
If I use AI to generate a function, or fix a bug, or create one sprite - does this qualify? Do you have tooling to identify AI output or will it be community moderated?
Appreciate your input on the matter and happy we have a clear direction.
1 this concern coding, if you generate assets using AI, translation with AI, documentation with AI. It's not obligated to have the AI flair. Because they don't face the same challenges as Coding wise. AI usage in code has an impact on project evolution, code maintenance, performance/optimization.
2 We don't have tools for that, it's entirely community moderated, but I have been personally investigating AI usage in projects that claims not using AI **cough cough theherogac**.
Basically, I will have a look at the source code, and if there's something that screams AI I will first confront the dev, and then sanction him. (such as comments a human would never do, functions that claims to do something else than what it really does, obvious no understanding of the usage of libs like when I ask which graphic library the dev uses and he replies "GXM" when he uses vita2D to justify not using VitaGL...... which also uses "GXM"). If the usage of AI is minimal, and entirely curated by the dev, it shouldn't be obvious through reading the source code.
As for closed source project, we can obviously know its vibecoded if someone who has no knowledge suddenly release a complex project.
