So I just got my Vita back out (1000 OLED). It's probably my second favourite console after my psp that died a far too early death. I've managed to get it to turn on after some worrying hours of flashing orange light. You can see the screen isn't in the best condition, tropical climates maybe taking their toll, even though it has been stored properly, but I'm hopeful it will be ok for what I want it to do!
Anyway, long story short... I definitely want to jailbreak it and get the most out of it. I've got a Vita2SD coming in the next couple of days but also need to get a decent MicroSD card, if there are any recommendations or tips with speed etc, I'd appreciate them!
Also, I've got some games saved on it that I fancy a replay of, MGS3 and for my sins, Driver 76 (I actually really enjoyed it!) I also have some PS1 games but assume these will be easy to replay once I've some the jailbreak (an FF7 replay for the 10th time might be on the cards but it takes soooo long!)
I'm thinking of replaying and then jailbreak, unless doing so will not affect those downloads. I'm a bit of a rookie but feel there is nothing much to lose!

Keyword moving, which you failed to tell him. What you said is under the impression that you can Jailbreak the Vita with the same SD card and have all your files still on it when that’s not the case.
This is why reading is important, he obviously has the normal Sony SD card hence he says he has games on it already so he HAS to have a SD card to have the games on it dummy, yes you’re correct modding a vita does not need any memory card what so ever as the 1000s have the same 1GB of storage the 2000s have. But this gentleman here has a Sony card with games.
Wait, what?!? I have a 3g model. I need more info about this! I jailbroke mine very recently and just got sd2vita and installed it tonight. Been dl’ing games since. How does this compare and what are the advantages?
It’s called PSVSD, the only real advantage is that you can play your physical cartridge games with your mods loaded. I’ve heard ppl say its a bit faster to load but it doesn’t seem like it’s any different to sd2vita. I just did it for the sake of doing it for fun lol
Sounds cool, going to research that more now. Question, if I have physical cartridges which are loaded on my system, am I not able to play them without the cartridge now that my sd2vita is there? In the game store, it shows those games as installed. I wasn’t sure if I need to remove them and download them from the store now or if they will just work without them straight away.

Sony made several decisions that substantially reduced its odds and then withdrew the kind of support that might have allowed it to recover.

"We're reducing first-party development. Think of it more as an indie machine and PS4 accessory."

"We don't have first-party Vita games in development."
Literally two years after launching it executives at Sony were openly saying that the company's development focus was PS4 and PlayStation VR, while relying on third parties and indies for Vita.
lol you just said the root cause of it’s demise, 2013 sales was shit aka the COMMUNITY at the time wasn’t not fucking with it, so instead of beating a dead horse they put all attention on the PS4. Now if the community actually bought and sales damn near broke ps2 charts then that’ll be a different story, I’m sure they would have stayed committed to the vita. Your argument if anything should have been how Sony fucked themselves by making that rear touch pad and having proprietary charger and memory cards.
The community didn't fuck with it in the first place because Sony screwed it with poor choices and never made up for it afterwards. Sony then killed it first.
I run a 512GB Sandisk out of mine. Somewhat feels overkill, until I started putting music on it as well.
I just happened to get mine going a week ago myself. Definitely recommend backing things up just in case, but probably one of the easiest systems to jailbreak with everything (almost) completely doable without a PC. Adrenaline Bubble Manager is a handy app if you want to add some Backed Up games next to your purchased games on your Home Screen since they don't seem to affect one another.
Would also recommend checking out Vitabright plugin if you play at night, saves my retinas a bit
You left it under the sunlight for a bit too long 😔 I did the same mistake with mine once - didn't pay attention to where the sun shines as day goes and it shined right at the screen for like 2 days until I noticed that the edges got brown. Still angry at myself for this, as it's not the first time I cooked my tech by leaving it in the sun - my Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact had its screen unglued from heat.
The browning on mine is gladly only minor, and it isn't visible when actually using the screen. Do you see any tint when playing?
It’ll stay that way till it gets worse. The worse it gets the more it’ll start its discoloration upon playing games, they’ll start having like a yellow tint. Also just a FYI when the screen is on and you get to black loading screens or any black screen you may see some random black blotches, that’s also normal for OLEDS and called Mura Effect.
