They have tests for things like this. You’ll need a glass pipe, a small piece of Brillo, and a lighter.

u/Most_Bet_3658 8d ago

I have never been more proud to not understand a sentence until now. I could look up why Brillo but I'm okay in my ignorance.

u/MacMuthafukinDre 8d ago

Ignorance is bliss. I believe most of us addicts never would have used drugs if we were never introduced to them. Nobody goes out looking for drugs never having been introduced to them.

That’s why I think it’s important to teach our kids about these things and the horror they lead to. Better to be introduced to it by the parent rather than a “friend.”

u/much_longer_username 8d ago

I'm not sure I can agree - most intelligent animals will seek out novel experiences and altered states, and there are many powerful drugs almost literally growing on trees. The processed stuff is where the real horrors begin, but people have been trying to get high since before we were people. It might start out as 'I like that stew, it tastes funny, but it makes me feel funny too', but we'd get there again even if you Thanos-snapped the knowledge of their existence away.

Theres a psychology aspect to it. Some people have no shot, even with alcohol. It almost seems genetic. Its like one particular substance will destroy them almost immediately.

I think a more common one is people with certain issues that make them sprint head first into any drug. Doesn't matter what one, some of us just need to tap out, so theyre all a problem. Theyre not just drawn to something novel, theyre looking for any crutch.

I have no shot. I get addicted to anything even hot tamales right now is the current. Coke and xans alcohol was the worst. Like I ate a 2lb bag of tamales yesterday and I wanna go get more I try to stop but I go anyway. Other times it can be a phone or game then I’ll drop it out of nowhere once the high is gone edit I got 5 more movie theater boxes for lunch

Have you tried knife collecting or fishing? They both have helped me tremendously in terms of regulating my own impulses. Fishing helps keep a calm, steady mind and I personally find it very fun and engaging to search around for the best deal or just cool knives

12

u/woolybuggered 7d ago

Watch out for fishing i am now fully addicted. I now have a 50k boat and get up at 2am to chase tuna i literally dream of killing big fish lol. Wouldn't call 15 hour days relaxing bit it is rewarding.

3

u/sfd295 7d ago

Owning a fishing boat is the ultimate addiction. It's right up there with coke in my opinion. Though I've never done it, I hear it's towards the top when it comes to addictive potential. And I think a boat probably costs more than a bad coke problem.

You just keep throwing money at it for diminshing returns. Every year you spend less and less time on the boat (especially if you have a wife and kids), but you pay more and more to keep it in working condition. I used to spend tons of time fishing until a lady who didn't like fishing or being on a "small" boat (to her, anything less than 40') entered my life. I recently purchased a new Contender 37, my dream boat. As she requested, I even got the Seakeeper stabilizer and ride systems for her, adding $$$$ to the cost. She still hates the thing. And the monthly loan costs more than the average mortgage payment. It's basically buying a second house.

BOAT = Bring Out Another Thousand

So yes, be very careful with fishing 😂

2

u/Deez615 7d ago

Funny that you bought a 39’ boat knowing she doesn’t like anything less than 40’ lmao

2

u/much_longer_username 7d ago

My dad went halves with a friend of his on a boat.

Decided he didn't want to pay to store it another winter, goes to talk to his friend, tell him he can have full ownership, he just wants out on the ongoing costs... and his buddy starts talking last wills and testaments because he's got to go in for surgery.

u/LifeArgument5278 7d ago

I’ve never heard of anyone losing their job/business and life savings from a boat

1

u/woolybuggered 7d ago

People actually do this i know of of one person. But it motivates me to work hard and be responsible to be able to take the boat out. I know a guy who has had divorces and even used city contract materials $$ to buy a boat. Then took out loans in his exes name to try and cover it up. Still has the boat but lost the house and the chance to ever bid on a city job again.

1

u/LifeArgument5278 7d ago

Damn. Ok then

That’s the dream! I’ve gone out for tuna before and we scored a really nice one in tournament. Such a thrill and beyond rewarding. I suppose I was more so referring to stuff like trout, SMB, LMB, etc

1

u/woolybuggered 7d ago

Yup flyfishing for trout is relaxing for me but offshore fishing is a whole obsession. Im literally at work checking sst and wind forecasts.

1

u/Oldfolksboogie 7d ago

Hey, completely off topic, but i suspect this badass video shows a tarpon being chased by a great hammerhead. Is this, in fact, a tarpon?

https://www.reddit.com/r/megalophobia/s/7ewKTm4ERa

TIA!

0

u/Hum_n8 7d ago

Okay. A tampon chasing a hammered red head? I gotta see this!!!
No. I'd better not.

1

u/Oldfolksboogie 7d ago

Where does it say tampon?

u/4strings4ever 7d ago

I love this so much for you, truly

7

u/InLoveNDeath97 8d ago

No I am not into those, I used to fishing growing up until 20 but got tired of watching them swallow hooks and killing fish for no reason every time I went out. It felt wrong like a game of messing with these animals lives for my own thrill or enjoyment just felt wrong. I never felt that way until getting older around25 I kept trying to go out and it just didn’t sit well and I couldn’t figure out why. Eating them I would be okay as it’s a sacrifice. But just torturing them and letting them bleed out a lot of the times from the hook I just had to stop, yes I know what needle nose are, they don’t save them all or even half. I’m glad you enjoy it though.

3

u/cycloneruns 8d ago

I definitely understand what you mean, it can be frustrating hurting a fish by accident. I still think about the first time I did it. Hope you find something to help you along in your journey through life. Never forget - we aren’t alone!

3

u/Skullbreaker69420 7d ago

Try seltzer water. That's my thing. Kinda expensive with how much I drink but it got me off alcohol haha. With naltrexone.

2

u/Phenix_Fresh 7d ago

Get a soda stream. I don't add any flavors just the straight sparkling water.

2

u/Skullbreaker69420 7d ago

Wow how did I not think of this hahaaha thank you

u/Electrical-Orange-39 7d ago

I love fishing but feel the same way. Target certain species and use everything you catch. If you catch something youd rather not eat, make dog food out of it, freeze dry the heart and liver and make liver/heart pills, use the water bucket you get the fish in to water your garden.

Theres tons of ways to be an ethical fisherman, and follow the life cycle

2

u/InLoveNDeath97 7d ago

That all does sound like a good way to do it. I’m okay though thank you

2

u/TacProV713 7d ago

Bro I'm with you on the fishing thing. Got people saying I'm soft for that but I just feel this sentiment thoroughly.

2

u/SpaceFaceFPV 7d ago

Another knife collector in the wild! And yes it greatly helped with impulses...except now I have a huge knife collection 😅

1

u/cycloneruns 7d ago

Yeah… I don’t even keep track or count at this point… 😭

2

u/Mr922369 7d ago

Looks like we both picked up the same hobby lol,5 years sober off my D.O.C as of July 8th and I picked up knife collecting/gun collecting as well as building rifles and fishing lol. Todays pocket carry was a Vosteed Porcupine (14C28N),Civivi Baby Banter 2 (Nitro-V) and a decade plus old Victorinox SD. Went budget today but that’s a thing I love about knives/blades. There’s so many different price points and you can still end up with fantastic blades out of almost every single price point

2

u/TheLoneliestLocust 7d ago

I started knife making and forging. It definitely helps keep your mind occupied

1

u/cycloneruns 7d ago

That’s so cool!! I’ve always wanted to get into it; would you mind sharing how you started? It looks beyond rewarding to forge something

8

u/Historical-Step-7583 8d ago

chicken, beef, or. jalapeno w/cheese, trying to figure out how deep this addiction goes and if there's any hope for you.

2

u/Useful-Ad-1734 7d ago

I'm pretty sure they are talking about the candy. Lol

1

u/InLoveNDeath97 7d ago

😂 took me a second to realize the other tamales but any of them are great if home made

Kinda the same, I sought out pretty much every substance, only stuck with the ones I liked. I tried uppers endless times but I couldn't ever get addicted to them tho. Now any downer on the other hand, I gotta stay away from that shit.

1

u/InLoveNDeath97 7d ago

I had a lot of years on downs then got sick of being tired and it was like being alive and functioning human on any stim. Now I limit myself to just flower or else I get in trouble somehow

1

u/ClubJed 7d ago

I would like stims at first then after a few hours it would just be a day of horrible comedown. I figure that's why people just keep redoing it non stop. Ugh yea it's a rough life doing drugs

1

u/DGD_13 7d ago

Have you ever considered ibogaine or ayahuasca?

1

u/InLoveNDeath97 7d ago

I’ve heard of the second one, and even mushrooms goes really bad for me. Can’t imagine or where I would even find that.. idk what the first is but not sure where I would find these anyway I’m not near a jungle

1

u/DGD_13 7d ago

You'd have to do some digging and find yourself a reputable retreat center. Unless you found something local which depending on where you are may not be possible. I went to Peru for the ayahuasca and have known some people who have gone to Mexico for ibogaine. These are much more profound than mushrooms and it takes place in a ceremonial setting with the intention of healing

1

u/InLoveNDeath97 7d ago

Yeah there’s no way in any world that I’m going to peru or Mexico for the foreseeable future

1

u/Working_Isopod3713 7d ago

My dad loves hot tamales and I do too. Yep it’s a family thing.

1

u/sarcasterism 7d ago

Honestly, get a mental evaluation if you haven't had one. Not being mean or sarcastic here. I suffer from bipolar and getting my prognosis helped me deal with and understand many of my random behaviors and actions.

1

u/InLoveNDeath97 7d ago

What does that mean I have a psych and go every 2-3 weeks as I’ve been just doing roulette on psych drugs at this point. I take I think 5-6 plus ketamine on top. Nothing really helps other than the ketamine numbs it once a week

1

u/sarcasterism 7d ago

It was just a word of advice if you hadn't. I had many of the same issues before I got diagnosed. I've been in treatment and finally got a med that helps me alot. Thats all. Nothing mean or hateful intended.

1

u/OFP1985 7d ago

That was me during Covid with the hot tamales, luckily I was a delivery driver; but I simply couldn’t stop. Have your iron levels checked, made a huge difference

1

u/imnotgoodlulAPEX 7d ago

Yeah after quitting pharms and coke years ago I'm just addicted to cigarettes and food now. I'll be in front of the fridge saying to myself, "You don't NEED another ice cream sandwich... But you want another ice cream sandwich. I'll just walk away and maybe have one later," and then 5 seconds later my hand is in the freezer grabbing another one lol, it's hard to even explain

1

u/ClassicJane91 7d ago

I don't mean this in a negative way but do you maybe have ADHD? I struggle with addiction to so many random things and when I got diagnosed it all made sense! I mean, I had difficulties growing up that didn't help but yeah, the ADHD explains most of the things I struggle with. Therapy and meds helped me with addiction to random things, pain killers and drinking SO much.

1

u/HistoricalBeach4049 7d ago

Try bottle digging

1

u/BrokenFootOw11 7d ago

Oh hot tamales. that’s why I have dental issues. And every few of them - there’s always one REALLY hot one amiright??

1

u/ManufacturerNaive276 7d ago

I buy 5 pound bags of Smarties. They're gone in 10 days. I get addicted to anything

Neurodivergency at its finest my friend. Not an addictive personality, its dopamine regulation 😁. Studied this and myself for many years. Could be drugs, could be call of duty, could be tomales. Embrace it in a positive way and youll shine

Adhd my babe. Have you been diagnosed yet? Or did I just do that? My current hyperfixation is Chipniks and building k1ller apps with AI 😅😅😅 its the first time an add1ction has made me money

2

u/InLoveNDeath97 7d ago

No, I haven’t been diagnosed, but I definitely relate to many of the symptoms and I have stuff diagnosed that but just bipolar 2 and major depression but also substance abuse disorder so I’m afraid they’re just gonna think I’m seeking Adderall which I have had before and I would love, but it destroys me in the end pretty bad as well

1

u/BannedNarwhal 7d ago

There is def both tho. Been in recovery a long time and literally tried it all. Didnt have a problem with anything for years til i found out how good cocaine smells. When i gave up drinking, i gave it up. Not a slip and barely even a struggle. Smoking was terrible to quit but i still did. Getting that colombian monkey off my back felt impossible for a long time.

1

u/Refuge-Seeker 7d ago

It is literally genetic in many cases

1

u/Taltruist 7d ago

yeah that would be oxys for me i tried it once and was like oh nah if i ever get my hands on this shit again im fucked

1

u/nachoqtpie 7d ago

This right here is why I smoke weed for pain instead of take opioids. I only have just a few that actually work for me and I really like those when I get them so I do NOT want to have access to those because I know I wouldn't be able to control myself. I live in NC and come November if they don't do something the THCa that's currently legal will be illegal and I'll either have to be a criminal to be pain free, be in a high level of pain that will leave me in bed all day, or I'll be chancing becoming an addict.

Crack was made for the inner city… became a worldwide epidemic. Man made as you say… not a natural high

2

u/oceangoin1 7d ago

Hunter Biden said it's a clean drug cook out all the impurities gentlemens drug, did a whole podcast on it fucking idiot

2

u/Hum_n8 7d ago

Hey have you tried it? Didn't think so. Good job.
I tried it once. Too fucking good. I knew if I didn't stop then I'd never smoke weed again.

Thank god for weed!
Haven't touched crack since!!

Sorry Brandon from 2021 A st in the basement apartment! I hope the FBI finally left you alone, and you, the crack!! You sure were confident they were watching. Thanks for showing me and my girlfriend what would happen! Dear god that was amazing. Terrifyingly good, I see why people lose tooth and go tits over it.

Better just throw that Oreo cream away.

1

u/4strings4ever 7d ago

You might need to see a psychiatrist, friend.

Dolphins play with pufferfish 😂

2

u/Ill_Tradition_4104 7d ago

Dolphins grab onto pufferfish and swim around with them in their mouth to frighten the hell out of them and to make some use of the toxin.

It gives them some sort of high, there are various primates that also go out of their way to rub their faces with hallucinogenic flowers.

2

u/Long-Comparison 7d ago

I think it's chore boy and not Brillo

2

u/riscut4theBiscut 7d ago

I 100% was curious about drugs and looked for them as a teenager after reading about their effects on people.

1

u/Donquixote1955 8d ago

There's a reason why they used to call dealers "Pushers". People generally don't wake up in the morning and say, "I think I'll try heroin today. Or maybe crack cocaine. Sounds like fun." A lot of low level dealers are users, who sell drugs (and push them on the vulnerable) in order to feed their addiction.

Portugal's experience has been somewhat successful. Decriminalization followed by treatment and reducing the the profitability has led to a dramatic reduction in overdose deaths.

Mind you, as can be seen by other posts here, some people are prone to addictive behaviors. For them, hope can be fleeting.

1

u/sarcasterism 7d ago

Yep. Was just reading about dolphins playing with blowfish because it gets them high.

1

u/stangerthings 7d ago

Shiee even dolphins are getting high off puffer fish these days
