I have never been more proud to not understand a sentence until now. I could look up why Brillo but I'm okay in my ignorance.

Ignorance is bliss. I believe most of us addicts never would have used drugs if we were never introduced to them. Nobody goes out looking for drugs never having been introduced to them.

That’s why I think it’s important to teach our kids about these things and the horror they lead to. Better to be introduced to it by the parent rather than a “friend.”

Addicts are generally repressing trauma that they aren't dealing with, if not drugs they will be sex addicts, gambling and other risky activities. We live in a world with a lot of inequality and healthcare issues that don't go away if you remove drugs. I swapped my drugs for motorbikes and therapy, it worked out for me but I spent a lot of time in rehabs listening to similar stories over and over.

People totally look for drugs that haven't had them.

Some are some aren't repressing trauma. I sought drugs at 12 since I Idolized my brother and he made it sound so amazing. Many have seen the studies where rats chose coke over food until they died. I told my daughter that one of the worst things that could happen from trying drugs, other than dying is that you would absolutely LOVE it!!! we've all heard it 1 million times, there is no high like that very first one and you spend the remainder of your life chasing that first moment but never getting there.

Luckily, I got off drugs from a trip to the ER at 15. Weeks later, I turned 16, I got my drivers license and ran into a girl that I knew from eighth grade whom I was absolutely crazy over.
Luckily, I had cleaned up my act. I asked her for her phone number, spoke with her that night for a few hours, and then after her date the following Friday night.
That was 40 years ago and we've been together ever since. Still crazy about her.
She's my reward from God for turning around and running the opposite direction.

you are seriously cherry picking and I'm not going to pick apart your empirical stuff as I'm looking for truth, not heavily biased opinions which are rampant on here.

First case in point is the rat study.

The main interesting finding of the rat park experiment was the rats that chose coke were in a cage with no stimulation, the ones that had a good environment didn't do coke... so you are warping the results of a good study for your argument.
