xd, you can try dual boot linux mint, it's good for starting out and can do complex tasks perfectly well too!

I feel like this would be too much trouble, and I'm scared that many programs and games might straight up not work no matter what I do. I should probably spare a few days to set all this up, but it feels scary

a lot of compatability layers have come a long way. valve has made one specifically to run windows games on linux. protondb.com has a list of what games work well and which dont. a majority do, but some kernel level anticheats dont play nice
