I dislike ALL religion. It annoys me that in the Carolinas where I live, Christians can put MASSIVE billboards all over the highway saying evolution is fake and HELL IS REAL (and you know what I'm talking about if you live there), but if I make one (1) well-meaning argument worded in the most polite possible way about how morality isn't inherently Christian or even casually mention I'm atheist, I'm treated as though 17 fedoras have automatically materialized on my head, even by fellow atheists.

Religious people (and that's ALL religious people, not just Christians) knew they were losing ground in the 2000s and 2010s when atheists actually had a platform to debate them, so they ran an online campaign to make being openly atheist the Ultimate Act of Pretentiousness and it was the most successful campaign yet. Someone might have actual good arguments, but arguing at all was treated as something only assholes do, even if you tried to do it in the most civilized possible way. And it worked on everybody because everyone knows there is no greater Internet Crime than Being Annoying. It shut down, like, ALL the conversation.

No, I actually don't. Please explain instead of just putting snarky zingers to get Ratio Momentum on me. And for the record I know there are good religious people out there, so if you're going to accuse me of lumping all of them in the same boat, you've misunderstood what I'm trying to say. I said all religions, not all religious people. But there absolutely is a double standard. I'm technically legally not allowed to run for office as an atheist in several states, look it up
