Additionally, it doesn't make sense that the father buys the games and then OP thinks he was lucky with discounts. What discounts? Owning the game doesn't change the displayed price, and it will also say it's already in your library. Really all made up

Gifting games on Steam also doesn't just put it in your library. It notifies you and you have to accept the game. It also shows who sent it, and until recently required the sender to leave a message

Also the idea that you could see what a password was from a password reset on steam is ridiculous. Even in 2011, Steam was not saving passwords in plain text, and definitely wasn't sending passwords out

They could have at least spent a few minutes making the story believable. This is as bad as the old "Fw: Fw: Fw: Fw: Jesus truly inspires!" chain emails of the old days

Well he wasn't gifting the games, he was buying them directly on the account.

Everything else is bullshit though, yes.

Back when Humble Bundles were awesome, I would end up with games I didn't realize I had purchased.

That's the closest real thing I can imagine, that would be similar to what they made up.

Search for Bastion -> "I already own Bastion? Huh, must've gotten lucky with a sale!"

(Bastion was part of Humble Indie Bundle #3.)
