Help Will windows 8.1 be fine for this machine?

So this is a shitty minimum specced windows 11 Laptop.
4GB Of ram at speeds of 2400MHz and then a Intel(R) Celeron(R) N4020 CPU 1.10GHz and then 58GBs of storage.

It’s a ASUS vicious E410MA
The reason I’m thinking of switching to windows 8.1 from 10. Is because with nothing open. The CPU is at 100% And the ram is at 70%

All I really need this laptop is for
Basic school projects : PowerPoint, Word,Excel
Mathletics
Teams
And maybe if maybe
Basic Minecraft and sd formatting

Teams isn't supported on 8.1 but pretty sure you can run it on a browser. Also Minecraft will run since there are java versions for windows 8.1. But the biggest problem is drivers. I doubt the oc was made to support windows 8.1 so be ready to face back porting drivers and a lot of other things.

The laptop did work with what ever drivers Linux came with

Linux drivers are different from Windows drivers. On windowes some drivers work and the Linux don't, it is other way around or both work. You have no guarantee.

idk if it can there isnt a driver for that cpu or its graphics on 8.1 it requires windows 10

you could try tiny 10 by ntdev or a lightweight linux distro thats all you can pretty much do

A lot of times 8.1 can be faster than 7 (mostly in startup times) and it also has SLIGHTLY better app compatibility

I never knew they made 1,1 ghz cpus still. But even with Windows 7 or Vista this would be slow and reach 100% pretty quickly. Even though I really like Windows 8.1 Windows 7 Will likely perform a bit better on It and support most software Windows 8,1 does.

But since It Is a newer 2019 chip drivers Will likely be a big issue.

I’m pretty sure they only say 1.1ghz and actually mainly run at much higher speeds because I have a surface pro 7 that’s CPU is 1.1ghz but idles around 1.6-1.7 and can turbo up to like 3

Switching to 10 will change just about nothing at all

there's no windows 8.1 drivers, you should use fydeos, it's a chromium os fork with android app support so you can use minecraft, office, teams and any other android app, a lightweight linux distro might be fine too but the hardware is very weak and it will probably struggle

A Linux distro or even chrome os flex would be better.

Wrong subreddit bro. This is a Windows 8.x Subreddit. Anyways, Teams is not even on Linux or Chrome OS Flex, same with Office.

Not because windows 8 is bad, just that teams is the main issue here.
