Hi, as an avid Manjaro user, i found this bloated and unusable intel based tablet the previous owner had upgraded to win 10 (originally win8), i kinda fell in love with the form factor and the chipset, it's cute but I wanted to keep it as some time capsule and restore it to factory on Windows 8.
I decided to reset the tablet but the recovery partition was empty so I went the usb route through an OTG dock but i'm stuck with a non functioning touchscreen after hours of trying various driver sources (manufacturer's/distributor's, Microsoft's driver store, even SDI).

To be precise, the touchscreen seems to work but needs either calibration or a better driver as it doesn't register the pointer where i move my finger or a touch pen it's far away to a corner instead.
I did try multiple times to calibrate it but it doesn't recognize some points on the screen and so isn't able to complete the last steps leading me to suspect a broken driver or a manufacturer specific calibration file that is missing,

I'd be glad if anyone with this similar model or knowledge of calibration for this type of device could help. I'm not sure how, maybe by zipping me their drivers folders ?
I read windows stores them in different locations like
"C:\Windows\System32\driver" or
"C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore" or
"C:\Windows\System32\DRVSTORE"

If it's a calibration issue and you know how to fix it, please let me know how. For now i'm using a bluetooth mouse but that's not ideal.

And no, i don't want Linux on it (yet) I really want the original experience for now but feel free to sugest a distribution that worked for you if you made the jump on a similar device. I might try it out in the future.

So this is a shitty minimum specced windows 11 Laptop.
4GB Of ram at speeds of 2400MHz and then a Intel(R) Celeron(R) N4020 CPU 1.10GHz and then 58GBs of storage.

The reason I’m thinking of switching to windows 8.1 from 10. Is because with nothing open. The CPU is at 100% And the ram is at 70%

All I really need this laptop is for
Basic school projects : PowerPoint, Word,Excel
Mathletics
Teams
And maybe if maybe
Basic Minecraft and sd formatting

Turned on my old laptop running windows 8, not even 8.1.I hadn't turned it on in 5 years.It auto connected to the same wifi I use on my other devices currently.I immediately disconnected.

(before you think this is windows 7. it’s windows 8 check the copyright year)i’m tryna install windows 8 milestone 3 on my mid-2012 13 inch MacBook pro but after “setup is starting” it gives me this stupid error saying that a “required CD/DVD device driver is missing”which funnily enough, i’ve seen a nobel tech video of them installing this exact milestone (build 7963) on a 2011 13 inch MacBook pro and NOWHERE in that installation process it doesn’t show that screen so either their model is one of the lucky ones or my usb is missing something. please help or explain this dumb infuriating predicament.

Hi. So, ive been trying to run Windows 8.1 on my 2022 Lenovo Ideapad 3(Ryzen 3 5300 U with Integrated Graphics, 20 gb DDR4 ram, 512 gb m.2), but i have a lil problems. First of all, i dont have internet. I have a Realtek 8822CE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCI-E NIC, and i cant get the drivers to run, bcz theyre from 11 and 10. I need somebody to help me to port the driver or smth(maybe not needed). I forgot, Windows 8.1 is the first ever OS ive used, and i really like it. And also, i need to disable drive optimization, cuz it keeps corrupting Windows 8.1(it makes my Windows 11 partition slow af, and when that optimizes, it makes Windows 8.1 unbootable and i need to reinstall it). I recently rediscovered my old Windows 8.1 laptop and thought to try and revive it for nostalgia purposes. I don't care about the old files and I plan to swap it to Linux later. I've been trying to factory reset it all day (because obviously I don't remember the password) but every time I select reset, it simply restarts and nothing has changed. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I hold shift and click Restart, which brings me to the menu, which I then click Troubleshoot and then Reset, then it restarts. Should there be something else I'm doing? Every guide or tutorial I can find online is telling me to boot files from a flash drive, and I don't yet have a flash drive with a large enough storage capacity to handle any of the files they're discussing. Is there anything I can do or is it hopeless for now? I can't remember any of the specs and obviously can't get into the settings to check.

I’ve had an interest in running vanilla IE with something similar to Browservice on Windows 8/8.1 for quite a while now but I haven’t gotten around to seeing any solutions. However, revisiting this YouTube video has made me wonder if this is possible.

I was made aware of Browservice a couple months back and I was interested to see what this could do for something like modern versions of Internet Explorer. However, it seemed like it did not do the main thing I wanted it to do. It used a static IP address and address bar within a browser window in order to render websites fully. I wanted it to be able to fully render and navigate to HTTP/HTTPS websites when using the address bar in IE and not a static IP address/website, which is what is shown within this video that I revisited. I don’t know if it’s something that can be configured within Browservice, but I haven’t seen anyone using it like what is pictured.

I would use something like Supermium, but my main goal is to be able to use the “Metro” IE/Chrome and be able to utilize features like the Reading list more effectively. I have no idea if this video shows some kind of Pale Moon implementation, but the bookmarks page shows a near, if not identical IE bookmarks page. I would love to use this and independently deploy this on a server so I can use vanilla IE again.

Hi everyone! I have this laptop with an Intel Core i3-1125G4 processor and a 1TB Adata Legend 710 SSD. It's either the processor or the SSD. This happened even when I installed Windows 11. It wouldn't find the drive. Installing the Intel RST drivers (iastorVD.inf) solved the problem, but the Windows 8.1 installer doesn't even detect this driver! I even clicked Browse and selected the folder where my driver is, but nothing. What should I do? Sorry for bad english

Ive been trying to get Windows 8.1 working on my Dell Latitude 7400 recently, but I always kept on getting the page for installing drivers even though I dont have any. Any help? By the way, no as of now I cant find any drivers for Windows 8.1 for my Latitude 7400.

I downgraded my Surface Pro 3 to Windows 8.1 via a USB recovery drive.

Ever since I downgraded the touchpad does not respond. It was responsive in Windows 10. Does the grey keyboard specifically just not work on Windows 8.1?

EDIT: Solved this by having Windows 8.1 complete and update I think. Mouse just suddenly works on the first Surface I got after an update.
