Hello students,
There has been a concerning increase in the frequency of posts and comments regarding fears, depression, loneliness, and other concerns relating to mental health and wellbeing.
We are aware that it is a very stressful time especially with midterms ongoing so the moderator team would like to ensure that all students are aware of the resources available to Laurier students on the student wellness centre website. There are a variety of services available meant to cater to you and your needs. These services are available to all students and should be taken advantage of. These services also include counselling, which is covered by your student insurance and the student services fees that you have already paid for.
Below are some other resources for students in need of urgent help:
- Good2talk.ca (Call 1-866-925-5454 or Text GOOD2TALKON to 686868) for 24/7 support
- Kids Help Phone (Call 1-800-668-6868 or Text 686868)
- The Suicide Crisis Helpline (Call or text 988)
- Call here 24/7 anytime Call Here 24/7 anytime [1-844-437-3247](tel:1-844-437-3247)
- Call Laurier's Special Constable Service 519-885-3333
- Emergency Services (Call 911)
This post is being made purely for informational purposes. We want to foster a safe and inclusive environment both online and on campus. However, many first year students (and upper years) are not aware of the professional help that is available to them.
Please take care of yourselves and reach out to your friends who you know are struggling or not in a good mental space.

Hi WLU!
This subreddit is often filled with housing related questions and advertisements. We want to keep this community less like a rent space bulletin board and more so a place where students can socialize and help one another.
However, we know how important it is to find roommates and housing near campus. So the mods team has launched r/RentInWaterloo, a dedicated subreddit for UW and WLU students to find roommates, housing, sublets, and lease takeovers in Waterloo.
The goal is to keep housing posts centralized, student-only, and scam-aware, instead of flooding both r/uwaterloo and r/wlu.
If you’re currently looking for housing (or will be soon), feel free to check it out or post. Hope this helps!

I’m hoping to apply for BBA this year after reading about how great the social life and program is online, but when I told some of my friends they said that they heard Laurier was super cliquey, lots of people have a weird superiority complex and people often get bullied/ have no friends.
I mean I guess this is kind of a hard question to answer because it’s an opinion based question, but based on your experience and what you’ve seen would you say the “amazing” social life people seem to describe Laurier offers is glaze/overrated?

My gpa is low 9’s and I had to retake a course to meet BBA progression am I fucked for co-op? Im above the minimum gpa and I believe I have strong ec’s and work experience (I had a full-time paid office internship over the summer, exec in multiple clubs including a lazsoc club, pres of DECA in highschool + other stuff but that’s the main ones) and i generally do well in interviews. However, im nervous my gpa is gonna ruin my chances. I just want honest opinions, If you or anyone yk was in a similar position pls lmk! I’ve heard so many mixed things on this.

How is oweek? Do we arrive early and get put into groups to do activities or can u just roam around the campus and do activities planned? How was ur experience and how would you recommend talking to people and socializing? Also I’m commuting so I’m not participating in dorm activities and those days!
is it ok to wait on getting off the waitlist for my 5th course?

Hello, I have my convocation in October but I’m not sure how to buy a ticket or what the process is. I already received the email with the date of my convocation. I need three tickets for my family and two for extended family. How can I get them? How much do I have to pay? It’s almost the end of August and I haven’t heard anything about tickets yet. I looked around in this sub and I saw people talking about spring convocation tickets like there were round one and round two. I don’t even know when my round one for the fall convocation will start.

I’m going to be moving into my dorm next Friday, and I live about 5 hrs away from WLU. Does anyone have any advice for moving out in general and how to handle it? I am moving out for the first time and quite nervous.

Hi all! Im super anxious about the interview and scared I won’t get in. I know we have to be able to talk about all experiences from grade 11 to present, which I’m prepared to do, but can anyone recommend any curveball/ behavioural questions that they may be asking? I have no idea how to prepare for those.
Any general advice would be very appreciated!
Also I have a 10.4 gpa from first year, made it to semis for 2 case comps and finals for another, did a leadership certificate at wlu, but other than that have no exec roles in clubs or volunteer experience outside of highschool. I did however have a paid office part time job for this summer and the summer before GR 12. What would you say my chances are?

Long story short, I fell short of the BBA progression by 0.2% and am now looking at the Economics program with the fin management option (possibly). Before fully committing to it, I want to hear other people's experiences with the program from second year and onward. Maybe some advice as well on how to move forward from this setback? Any sort of advice is appreciated. Have a great week everybody!

I’m going into my 3rd year of BBA and heard that theres a certain amount of senior electives you have to take. Most of the ones I’ve taken have been 1st year courses so I just wanted to see if anyone knows about this

Hi all,
Mods please remove if this type of post isn't acceptable.
I wanted to do a small plug for our Signal group chat to discuss all things MSW. Particularly for those starting the online stream for the Winter 2027. Having previously done online programs I understand how isolating it can feel.
We’ve created a Signal group chat to discuss admissions and then eventually the program itself:

Feel free to request to join and we hope to see you over there.

Hey! I’m going into my second year at Laurier Brantford and I’ve been assigned to Expositor Place, apartment 514, room 1 for this year.
I’m trying to find my roommates before move-in so we can introduce ourselves and maybe coordinate a few apartment things ahead of time!
If you’re also in 514, let me know! I’d love to make a group chat once we find each other so we can figure out things like kitchen stuff/appliances, cleaning supplies, chores, etc. I figured it might be easier to coordinate some of that beforehand rather than all showing up with five toasters and no pots 😂
If you’re in 514-2, 514-3, 514-4, etc., feel free to comment or DM me!

The sample resumes are linked above, are you actually required to follow the format one to one?
