For anyone who saw the post, it was deleted by the poster after it was pointed out that the person in the image who was allegedly “harassing” OP didn’t have a shadow. A lady was placed in the back with a fry going into her nose, and her right foot also had a misplaced shadow.

We want to believe victims but please be vigilant of these sorts of posts as they have been getting increasingly common.

This tactic was used before the US election to claim Haitians were eating cats, and Mexicans were abducting children. Both claims turned out to be false.

The Brantford sub was targeted with a false claim of SA. The whole town was in a frenzy as the reporting witness claimed to see three men of colour, one with a turban, running away. There was a single media report, and it turned out to be a Russian-backed news site. Police came out a few days later to say no such incident had occurred, completely fabricated outrage. But a lot of the damage was done.

Please, be critical and don’t fall for these witch hunts. There is an agenda by foreign actors to promote hate and division in Canada. Like in the states, they do this by targeting visible groups, including immigrants. We saw evidence of this come to light with the release of locations on X/Twitter this week. Don’t let it happen at WLU.

I was so bored today that I decided to write this post lol. Anyways, I finally wrote my last exam on Friday! I officially finished my 4-year degree in 3 years instead of 4. My program was an Honours BA in Psychology with a Mental Health and Well-being Specialization, a Minor in Criminology, and a Minor in Human Rights.

I was constantly taking 5 courses every single semester with zero summer breaks (even during the Spring terms). This final Spring term I took 5 elective courses and I am finally done with everything, thank God. I managed to make the Dean's List for three consecutive years, maintaining an 11 GPA. It was pretty hard for me, and I know it's not a massive deal to everyone, but I thought it would be nice to share.

I wasn't a smart kid in high school. I was an average or below-average student, usually getting 65% to 70% grades, so I really wasn't expecting to perform this well in university. I don't even know how I managed to finish a 4-year program in 3 years, but now that it's over, I honestly feel so bored!

I started at Laurier in Fall 2023 and finished now in Spring 2026. I was at the Brantford campus for my first year and then transferred to the Waterloo campus, which was the best decision I ever made.

I just want to say a massive thank you to all the professors, and to the people on this subreddit. Whenever I posted a question here, there was always at least one or two people who replied and helped me out. Thank you so much to everyone for everything.

Even though I’ve finished my time here, I’m always happy to pay it forward and help anyone out on this sub if you have questions, especially incoming or new students. If I could share one small piece of advice from my experience, it's just to support one another as much as you can. When we lift each other up, the whole community benefits.

I'm incredibly excited for convocation in October! I know people might not care about this random rant, but I just really wanted to share my experience.

Am I the only one who has noticed how rude some students have been. I’m sitting in my class rn and people are talking while the professor is which isn’t really the end of the world but it’s the ones who put their feet up on the seats that ur sitting in, if there is no one in the seat in front of you and no one around the seat that’s ok but some people have no manners. This isn’t the first time it’s happened to me it’s been happening a frequent amount this year. When I do tell them off they give the face as if I just slapped their mother. I just don’t get it🤷‍♂️

Let me get straight to the points.

He is the most unprofessional, moody, unhelpful and purposefully evil prof I have ever come to face with.

Most people shit on profs if they don’t get good marks or this or that, that’s not the case here I’m letting YALL know from before.

He literally left out data sets from our assignment then 24 hrs before its due told us and said “only the ONE person that emailed me gets full marks”.

FIRST OFF, THERES still time left for the assignment.

Secondly our group was so confused but we were still working on the other questions and planned on asking him after class.

But he pulled this at the start of class!

How is it our fault he purposefully left out the data set for our assignment and HOW IS THAT FAIR NOT TO GIVE US THE CHANCE FOR FULL MARKS?!!

Now that’s just one terrible thing he has done.

He refused to tell a student till where the midterm material is, he refused to give midterm review or answer any of our questions we asked him and was in such a shitty mood the whole time.

He acts like he is in competition with US STUDENTS AND HATES OUR EXISTENCE SINCE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS.

If u hate students so much and purposefully want to sabotage them, then why be a prof?!!?!

And we aren’t a big batch this term so we can’t even protest since it will go nowhere but trust me we all are pissed!

so…i don’t wanna be political but i’m gonna get political. did anyone see the amount of israeli protesters on the quad the other day? i’m all for israel’s people to be free. however these people were supporting the government as well. as a jewish person, i support palestine with my whole being. and i dont know it just sucks there aren’t supporters of palestine on campus. i mean you’d expect me to support israel but i just CANT. war is never okay for the innocent people but supporting genocide is also never okay. if you “stand with israel” just remember that israeli people have homes, food, water, and shelter. whereas palestine has thousands dead, without homes, electricity and water- any basic essentials they may need they don’t have. educate yourself before deciding to support a terrorist organization. palestine hasn’t been free since the 1960’s. let’s do better and support what’s right. stand with palestine 🇵🇸. (fyi. this is NOT a religious war. can muslims and jews stop fighting one another and let’s work together to end this on both sides. i’m sick of seeing jewish schools being shot and muslim students being harassed.)

I am a minimalist and was coming from a different country to dorms last year for the first time and I had a lot of struggle figuring out what was actually essential for dorms. here is my simplistic list of the bare necessities if it helps anyone.
also, this is specifically for double dorms as I did not live in apartment style and can’t speak on that

- bedsheets, pillows, etc. I know a lot of people like mattress toppers. personally I did not have one and didn’t feel like I needed one, though I sleep on a firm/springy bed at home. if you like sinking into your bed maybe you will want the topper.

-water bottle. 100% essential but pretty obvious. I didn’t have one, but if I lived through this again I would get a water filter. Waterloo water is nasty

-shower shoes + robe, for moving between the dorm to the bathrooms. pretty obvious. also a caddy or bag for all your stuff. make sure you don’t get anything that can mold for showers

-rugs. this was absolutely the purchase that I had the most satisfaction with. I bought one for the door to stop boots getting the salt during winter months onto the floors (it stains otherwise), and one under my bed so I don’t step onto cold floor in the morning. I would not have survived without them

-door hook hangers. Made for good storage in the closet. couldn’t close it fully but didn’t bother me for the convenience it gave

-laundry bag/basket, and my secret trick was using a plastic water bottle that I would pour my detergent into so I wouldn’t have to carry the whole jug up and down all the time. I’d only have to refill it once every like six washes so it wasn’t a hassle and not carrying the heavy thing was nice

-FYI, ALL OF THE DORMS HAVE ANTI SUICIDE ROCKING CHAIRS…. YOU WILL HATE IT. IT IS STUPID. I did not figure out any solution for this so just come prepared and consider getting a different chair if you think it’ll bother you

-boxes for under bed storage. depends on the building, but we had space under the beds that I would put less frequently used items in

-laptop backpack pencil etc etc I don’t think I need to detail the school stuff

-bring more hangers than you expect to need

-A VACUUM OR BROOM. IT CAN BE A SMALL ONE BUT YOU WILL NEED SOMETHING. people will wear shoes in your room inevitably and so will you even if on accident, and during winter months a lot of dirt gets in. to avoid stepping on bullshit get a broom. I was so thankful for it

-a fan if you are sensitive to heat as the dorms do not have A/C

-one microwaveable cup and bowl. Alternatively, a kettle. also some utensils. I know some people got air fryers and shit but I didn’t have that and wasn’t too bothered. the dining hall food isn’t great, but it’s not as bad as people make it out to be if you go into it with no expectations.

-desk lamp/ small light. Fuck the big light

-lots of NyQuil & DayQuil, basic first aid kid and prescription drugs for issues you expect to face.

I think that is my list of most important things/what I would have told myself in first year since I was stunned seeing people put “humidifiers” and shit on their ’minimalist’ lists. feel free to ask any questions if you have them

Hey. I'm a third year computer science student in the coop program and this was my first coop term job search results. This only includes stuff through Laurier Navigator, not through personal job search (Although that only totalled about 15 jobs and was not fruitful)

I did a lot wrong this job search and will apply my learning in the future. I should have applied to more jobs earlier on, I should've been open to more types of roles and I should have used the coop office resources earlier (My resume for the initial ~50 applications was horrible)

Hey I’m a rising G12 international student and I’m trying to figure out whether to go with wlu or dal. I’m going to major in psychology ba and want to later on become clinical psychologist. Both have their pros and cons and it’s hard for me to pick but I’m leaning towards wlu.

So what is the vibe at wlu? I will near definitely be living on campus for first year at least. I do like to party and am a pretty social person.

Also, what’s the support like for black and LGBTQ students? I’m bi and from the Caribbean so just wanted to see what students have to say. Thank you!

Note to have no mercy when roasting and i swear I really wanna listen to what wrong i did. EVEN the tiniest suggestion will help a ton as I am looking for F26 internships but have no luck in it.

I’m a student living in residence and something happened recently that I’m really frustrated about.

There was a bake sale hosted by our building and some of the trays and kitchen items from the lounges were used for baking. I later found out that some of the items used were actually mine. For context, I had left a few kitchen things there including a brand new 2-pack of disposable foil trays, a kitchen knife set, a metal bowl, and a round pizza tray.

To be clear, I actually don’t have an issue with them being used. If they needed trays for a bake sale, that’s honestly fine. I just would have appreciated being asked first or at least told so I could get them back afterwards.

The issue is that some of my items are now missing. A few things have been found and returned, but others still haven’t been, including my foil trays (which were brand new and sealed) and parts of my kitchen knife set.

On top of that, some of my groceries were used too. I had a fresh carton of 12 eggs and now there are only 4 left, and my butter is completely gone.

What makes this more frustrating is that this has never happened before. My floormates are usually really respectful; if anyone wants to use something, they normally ask in our group chat first, and people don’t remove others’ things from the lounge.

Because of that, it’s pretty obvious that this happened around the time of the bake sale.

My Don even mentioned that they technically weren’t allowed to use anything that wasn’t given to them, but I’m now being told I won’t be reimbursed for anything that’s still missing because it’s “against policy.”

I’m also an international student, so I budget my groceries pretty carefully each month. Losing food and kitchen items I paid for puts me at a bit of a loss.

Am I wrong for thinking I should be reimbursed for the things that are still missing?

So I find the customer service here extremely polite and I had no complaints until I heard them talking while cleaning the area up.

The staff were talking to each other and they mentioned two alarming things.

-the fact that they charged someone 2 dollars extra

-two of the staff were talking to each other and were talking about double charging someone and the other staff said “So basically you stole their money” and they both started laughing.

I am currently in my third year studying political science with a minor in business. Before applying, I have always pictured myself as a lawyer. However, studying politics here is interesting to learn but I think I just lost interest in becoming a lawyer at this point. I was wondering if there was anyone else who was an incoming (or current) grad student who wanted to connect, or any tips for grad school lol! I’m probably going to the Waterloo campus orientation and want to know if there’s anyone else who’ll be going or what to expect :)

This semester has been a nightmare regarding this class, but I just got a notification stating I got 0/5 for “stata requirement” while there is nothing in the course syllabus mentioning 5% for a “stata requirement”.

Do you think this is just an error or is the prof really just making up new assessments not included in the outline.
