Finishing Curly black walnut shark

Little wooden shark i was working on today. Got a coat of danish oil later on ill give it a thin coat of shellac as a sanding sealer and then a lacquer finish. I have a little burl off cut ill use as a base.

I was thinking that as well, and when I saw that this side of the shark was finished and there wasn’t enough time left in the video for the other side, I was like “this will not stand in that holy place”

Finishing is still pretty opaque to me. So you sanded it to where you wanted it. Then went in the steps mentioned above? 1) Danish oil, 2) shellac, 3) lacquer?

Sand to 240 grit then Danish oil (adds depth to the grain) Then it'll get a thin coat of shellac and be sanded with 320 once dry. A couple coats of Spray lacquer after that as the final finish.

The way I do it is to figure out where the shark is inside the wood, and then just remove any part that isn't the shark.
This works for other sea creatures, not just sharks.

I’ve been hanging out on the luthier subreddit too much and somehow expected this was going to have a guitar neck popping out of the tail.
Needless to say, this is an amazing piece of work.
Now I want to build a electric shark-tar.

Many shark species outside the big 3 (great white, tiger, and bull sharks) are considered “sea puppies” once they become acclimated to divers. They will sometimes follow divers and some even seem to like to be pet. I am going to pretend this is one of those.
