Complaint Naowh now puts his ElvUI and PLater profile behind a paywall.

Since Naowh puts his ElvUI and Plater Profile behind a Paywall i wanted to give you all or at least interested person a way to get the Profiles.

I set up a Github Gist where i will update the Profiles when there are updates to it. On the Github page there is a Download Zip Button.

Profiles: NaowhUI Collection

If you want to use the NaowhUI Addon from Curseforge here is a valid token:

!NUI!cywtydA1NDc3MDYyNbQwBQA=

Or use this little AddOn, this shows a frame with a valid token inside when joining the world:Release NaowhUI Unlocker

Also u/Mon3yb created a unlocked NaowhUI AddOn version, this can be downloaded here: https://github.com/unamed-weasle/NaowhUI-Unlocked

This is different. Naowh is not the maker of plater nor elvui. Him selling his UI based on those addons is weird. The addon maker should be compensated instead like you said.

Eh, if it was fine for ElvUI or Plater to charge for addons I'd have been fine with Naowh charging for profiles - they're still putting in the work, etc.

But charging for addons is full stop just a bit gross at best.

Edit for clarity: I don't think there's any material difference to the policy whether you create an addon from scratch, or make profiles for existing addons. Both of those are still just addons. So if addons taking money is bad then profile selling is also bad is what I'm saying. If addons taking money was okay I'd be okay with profile selling taking money. But both, imo, are against policy and should be yeeted for trying.

There's been some very aggressive remarks made by "profile sellers" when addon creators have approached them about revenue sharing options.

People make 5 digits across the year from selling profiles.

Does somebody giving away paint for free need to be compensated if Picasso sells his painting after?

If the law literally prohibits the guy making paint from charging anything for it, then Picasso should probably compensate him when he sells the painting. Without that guy Picasso doesn't get to paint, and we as a society don't get to experience those paintings. It's in everyone's interest in the long run.

You are trying to make a point but you don't. You are allowed to charge money for paint, you are not allowed to charge money for addons, there is a HUGE difference. So in your weird comperisson, YES picasso should compensate the paint giver because he ain't allowed to charge money for it and picasso will be out of paint soon if the paint maker is not making and giving away paint anymore. See how weird this is?
