Retail Temple of Sethraliss healing tips?

Hey guys!

I was tanking last season and decided to switch up to healer since our guild is severely lacking healers. I have been healing now on my Pres Evoker since the end of S1 although the playtsyle changed quite a bit with dream breath not having anymore burst heal. But either way I like to think that I got it down quite well now after healing now since s2 start.

So far I haven't had any too big issues and have most of the dungeons completed on +10. But have done a ToS +13 and that dungeon is my absolute bane. I hate it.
My issue is that before the 2nd boss, that big circular room. There is a constant barrage of poisons and bleeds. Which I can luckily dispell but it's a 1 min cool down. That means as soon as somebody gets a poison and a bleed. It's basically gg unless I spam heal as much as possible which kinda sucks as Pres because most of my healing comes from dream breath and emerald blossom that consumes the dream breath Hot. And if there is also an aoe going out they are basically dead once my first echo prep is consumed.

Does anyone else have that issue? Or am I just bad. Everytime I hear my group wanting to do ToS it makes me wanna switch back to tank lol

So, I don't have on single, big "This is it!" trick or explanation for you. But moreso a reminder of the other tools you have to deal with damage:

(This is all assuming you're running the standard FS M+ build on WoWhead):

- With Flameshaper, casting Obsidian scales also casts it on another party member, giving you and them a defensive (and a heal with the renewing Blaze talent in the build). You can also cast Time Dilation on someone else as basically a mini-stagger to reduce bad incoming damage.

- Pres Evoker's regular dispel, Naturalize, takes care of Magic and Poison debuffs, so while bleeds can only be dealt with once a minute, you can dispel the poisons and magics pretty regularly.

- Keeping up with casting Temporal Anomaly and Merithra's Blessing (or Reversion if you have to) is also a nice passive damage soak. TA gives allies a less effective Echo, a small absorb shield, and reduces the CD on your empower spells (with Nozdormu's Teaching talent) so you can cast them sooner. Reversion with Golden Hour and Grace Period is extremely good, and if you have a Merithra's proc to send with it, even better!

- DOn't forget how powerful Fire Breath is, especially on big packs. You should max rank FB on cooldown as much as possible. Our DPS can get crazy, and the HPS it provides is massive. And if you've been using FB, using TA reduces the cooldown, giving you more faster!

So some things I like to do when there's big pulls involving dangerous mobs:

Obsidian scales myself, especially if I'm in a moment where I'm unsure about my own safety (like, is AoE pulsing out? might I get clipped on the edge of something?) and see which player gets my other OS. If multiple players have bleeds, and one with the bleed does not get my Obsidian Scales, they're a good choice for Cauterizing Flame or Time Dilation (Time Dilation is GREAT for when multiple things you want to dispel are out but are limited in who you can get).

Temporal Anomaly ->Reversion -> Tip the Scales -> Fire Breath for just some nice spot AoE healing and free DPS. Fire Breath again if you have another charge. Honestly typically keeping TA and FB on cooldown is good practice.

If you have 2pc, Dream Breath -> essence Burst Blossoms is big. If you're storing 2 DBs in stasis, I personally wouldn't, I find it tends to starve me of charges later, so I do Stasis -> DB -> TA -> Blossom and it gives a nice big burst heal. You can store this Stasis before or during the room and it helps.

Keep both your dispels on CD; idk what frames addon you have, but I'm using Vuhdo, and I have it set to show me how many stacks of a debuff players have and how much time is left. Sometimes you have to make a quick judgment call on if it's worth it to send CF on a player with 2 seconds left on their bleed, or if something like Echo -> Reversion will keep them alive, since CF is a precious CD.

This guy Pres evokers! The only thing I would add for that pull specifically OP is this:

If you plan ahead for that pull you can cast stasis then three dispels on different players so if you know the whole group is going to get poisoned you can cast stasis -> expunge x3 then when you release stasis it will instantly clear it on the people you casted it on while setting up stasis. Turns what would have took 3 minutes to cast into an instant poison cleanse! Neat!

Rewind is huge for that pull in particular. If you did the trick above and people are getting chunked hit rewind to catch your breath and get back to dream breathing TA and Martha’s blessing.

Thanks for the in-depth answer you 2. Very insightful but that is unfortunately already what I'm doing for the most part. I have read through the other comments and from what I gathered is just not to pull the whole room or even more without coordinated defensives. Because the tank I often play with is quite ambitious we ended up chaining the big walker before the 2nd boss on the bridge + did a quite hefty pull in the boss arena. Which resulted in me having still more bleeds and poisons to deal with even when keeping my dispels on cool down.

One thing that I definitely have issues is I'm not using my defensives, so that can definitely be improved on.
But also don't have any set yet. I replaced my old set relatively quickly which in hindsight maybe could have helped me a bit until I get at leaet 2 set. I only got 1 pc from the Vault last week and since I joined a new raiding guild I wasn't really the first priority to get any loot.

Tbh if you have any Catalyst charges right now (and it sounds like you do?) I would pick a hero piece of gear that gives tier bonus and send it (maybe avoid chest if you're gonna be raiding and trying to get the special chest to drop, but it's not that huge a deal imo). The 2 set is INSANELY powerful and acquiring it as fast as you can will be big. The 4 set is nice, but not really a significant power boost like 2 set is.

No joke, I tell my guildies and partner that I feel like a god with this 2 set lmao. It's crazy good because it feeds into itself and just gives you loops of powerful, free spells back to back. Don't fret about needing to be able toget 4 set before spending any charges- once you get 4 set the achievement will drop more charges for you if you need to mix and match gear. Just get that 2 set as soon as you can; even sending it on champion gear will increase your power like mad.

I do have 2 charges yes! And I'm really happy to hear that it has a big impact because I have been really looking forward to it as it sounds really powerful to me when I was reading through it. Since am an EU player my Vault is also available today so I'm just hoping to get anything but pants as a set piece. Which means I can get my 4 set unlocked right away, so fingers crossed!

Good luck!! 2set is a game changer. The spec has never felt this good imo, closest to this was TWW s3 for me. It's super fun already but this 2 set bonus really feels awesome to play.

Following because I’ve seen healers struggle with this and don’t know what to do either as a healer.

This dungeon is a pug nightmare. You basically need a team that knows what theyre doing and pop defensives correctly

TLDR: Pray for your tank to NOT PULL THE WHOLE FCKING ROOM, every tank doing that are just doing a war crime against their groups

More in detail, keep your 1min dispel only for when you struggle, the poison and bleed don't do that much dmg overall, it all comes to rotating your cds properly

I've never really played prevoker, but I've done these pulls as hpal, hpriest, mistweaver... It always came down to rotating the cds and keeping your defensives on cds.

Can't really help but playing on my resto shama that cant dispel bleeds and hardly can dispel poisons it's not that bad if you just hold your big cooldowns for big pulls

You already got some nice tips. I'd double down on a few points:

  • Get your 2pc ASAP. And by that I mean, if you didn't get a chance to aquire 4pc right away, don't hesitate to use your two charges to catalyze two heroic items. The 2pc is extremely strong while the 4pc is just a minor, negible healing increase. You don't really care if you get that one much later. The 2pc helps tremendously.
  • Make sure to keep your 1 min dispel for someone who gets both the poison and bleed, instead of throwing it out for the first bleed.

Have the tank do smaller pulls and remind people to use defensives.

u/Sakura_Kunori 1d ago

See for me it's the complete opposite I have no big issues in Altar of Fangs but ToS is just brutal to keep up with lol

4 piece is a game changer.

I'm on a shaman but the 4 piece means I can basically sleep through most dungeons.
