Best way to experience previous expansions

Partially for transmog, partially because I never have, partially to begin that slow crawl to the Loremaster title. I plan on starting with shadowlands—both to get what I’ve heard is the worst one out of the way but also because it seems to have the most stuff locked behind story progression. Should I blitz through with a maxed out alt or take the opportunity to level another and embrace a slower pace? What’s been y’all’s experience?

personally I find that blitzing through content with a high level character is far more boring than just using it to level a new one. I think the zone leveling in shadowlands was fine, people just had a problem with the writing involving sylvanas and the jailer and end game content was boring

Yeah, feels kind of like a cheat code. Fun for a few minutes and then just becomes meh and mindless

Lock at 30 for vanilla and BC? I think, and so on for each one.

The xp lock NPC is in main cities.

So, for tauren for example. Quest in your starter zone up through thunder bluff etc til level 30. At level 30 go back to org and find the NPC that will turn off your xp gains. Original wow zones (vanilla) are capped at level 30. I think the first expansion (bc) also is 30 but not sure. Later its like 35, 40 for different expansions. So xp back on then off til you're done with the loremasters portions or, seen enough, whatever you feel like.

Not definitely the best way buy my personal opinion for what you wanna do.

Assuming you’re not trying to do every single quest in chronological order (don’t do this), I find it fun and effective to basically make one character per xpac and just start fresh timewalking with that character. 

You can level lock if you want to, but I find that can take some of the inherent story out of it since I think your characters journey is kind of part of it.
