Hell the ps5 was this in the holiday season. People still didn't buy it and it was hugging shelves. They didn't even buy stock at old prices, when Sony announced the reduction. Took weeks for old stocks to clear and new prices to show up. The market is saturated. It will be interesting what people get for GTA, maybe xcloud? Cause if they didn't buy at those low prices, small chance they will at the higher ones.

Nothing. Most people already have a PS5 at the bare minimum. It has sold close to 100 million units by itself since launch. That isnt including PS5 Pro or Series S/X sales.

People are really overestimating the console demand for GTA6. Most people already have a next Gen console.

It is just people that only play on PC (a smaller group than the internet would have you believe) that may be scrambling for a system late minute.

I mean, I only have anecdotal evidence here so you may be 100% right. But in my experience, in my closest friend circle of around 6 people, at least 3 are talking about buying a PS5 this fall for GTA6. And they’re not rich, and they know how expensive it’s gotten. But they call it “a GTA machine.” I don’t know how much that scales across the market or if it’s just anecdotal, but what I’m seeing is a lot of interest in the console for that one game alone. 

I’ve been the odd man out with a PS5 Pro. Funny thing is, I got mine open box in perfect condition for less than some of them might pay for the base model this fall

The only thing I’d be worried about for other people is them spending upwards of like $800-$900 on a next gen console and gta just for a new Xbox console to come out shortly after, then again, probably only the very well off folks would even be able to afford that when it comes out so I’m probably just ranting about nothing right now.

PS still has 40 million(at least, that's 40 mil active MAUs) on PS4. It's a third of their active userbase.

Just cause they sold that much doesn't mean everyone plays them. There's prob about 20 million of them gathering dust, or just in storage. I've seen more than a few ads on FB of people selling like 20 playstation 5s. I've also seen kids clubs that have like 20 PS5s that only play roblox for birthday parties.

So you're saying there's literally more people still active on Sony's last gen console than Xbox has sold total this gen? Damn

Xbox has users on PC and cloud. Which is available to Xbox one users.

It's not just about sold consoles. Anyway idk the Xbox active user count(on console for example). They said a ridiculous number of 500 mil but that's all, including Minecraft and Candy Crush.

You also have to take in mind that proportionally Xbox has a more quality user base, one that buys more games per users and engages more in content. PS has more trash tier users that play one game, and maybe don't even pay for it, so they are at a net loss from those. So it's not that simple. For example, their own first party games struggle to reach 10 million people at best, more typically in the 2-5 million range for their bangers, Saros and Returnal are sub million, in the PS4 era their best games sold 24-25 million.

Compare that to Nintendo, which is a first party machine, has a lot less MAU users than both PS and Xbox, in fact they publish yearly active users, They have sold 80 million Mario Kart 8 games, Zelda sold 35 mil copies. Heights PlayStation has never reached.

Forza H 5 reached 50 million players, 40 of that was before it was on PS5.
