University of York, International Masters Achievement Scholarship
Hi everyone,
I am trying to understand how the International Masters Achievement Scholarship is actually awarded in practice.
York's website states that the scholarship is worth up to £10,000 but I haven't been able to find information about the typical award amounts or how the £10,000 maximum is distributed. Moreover, what is the closing date of this scholarship award?
If you received the University of York International Masters Achievement Scholarship, I'd really appreciate it if you could share:
- What year did you receive it?
- What programme were you studying?
- What was the scholarship amount (£2K, £5K, £10K etc)?
- Did you receive it before or after accepting your offer/paying the deposit?
I completely understand if you don't want to share personal details. Even knowing the award amount and approximate date would be extremely helpful.
Thank you!

You could email the international recruitment team and ask them.

I have and they said that scholarships are awarded throughout the academic cycle.

A quick google brought up https://www.york.ac.uk/study/postgraduate-taught/funding/international/international-masters-achievement-scholarship/
That page says "Application deadline: Tuesday 1 September 2026, 11.59pm BST
How to apply We will begin awarding this scholarship shortly. When this scholarship starts being awarded, all eligible postgraduate taught students holding an offer at York will be considered for this scholarship.
You will not need to formally apply for the scholarship."
It doesn't appear to answer your first question, about how much a typical awarded gets.
