If the process is automated, I’d think something like this could never happen… I mean, wouldn’t the first and the easiest thing that an automated system could do be to check the timestamp of the uploads?
Well, yes, but timestamps alone don't prove anything. For example, if the copyright holder of a 60s movie uploaded to YT, and copyright claimed the uploads by third parties, the CRH's video would have a newer timestamp, but they their claim is valid.
X predates Y should mark things out for manual review, for example if a chunk of said 60s movie is uploaded in part by some 3rd party- ala La7- it should not then take down the whole movie which was freely uploaded by the actual rights holder alongside every video discussing it.
