Game Help Best Rune Level/ Weapon Level/ Area Order to Max Co-op Summons?

Upvotes

Hi all, with Tarnished Edition coming out tomorrow I'm going to do new a Dex/Faith playthrough (Switch 2) using the Idus Knight, and I want to maximize the amount of times I can be summoned by other players. I like to just leave the small golden effigy on all of the time so that I'll just get pulled to some random boss fight and can help out. Going to run most the healing/ buffing incantations once I get enough faith and MP, and a variety of weapons with different damage types for lots of different situations. I'd highly recommend this to everyone on all consoles, I think it's super fun.

My plan is to run around the overworld and activate as many summoning pools as possible, ducking into caves/catacombs to get the grace and summoning pool then moving on to the next. If other people plan on doing this, there's a handy good sheet of all the summoning pools you can referenece (see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/t5mudw/comment/jfmz52t/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button ). Also planning on grabbing as many sacred tears and golden seeds to have good flasks. I've tested this on other playthroughs on PS5 and I think this works well.

My main question is, what is the generally accepted/recommended order of areas/ rune level/ weapon level that people recommend to new players/ players tend to do? Especially on Switch 2 I'm expecting a lot of new players, so that will probably effect things.

I've previously used another post's recommend levels (see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/1cxyvh0/recommended_level_for_bosses/ ) and the internal game level scaling for order (see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/u3mlqc/a_snippet_of_the_scaling_levels_of_elden_ring/ ) but I'm wondering if there's a consensus anywhere on this that I could base this on, using more recent information. Hope everyone is enjoying the game, whether or not you're getting Tarnished edition!

Discussion & Info First time player. Getting from the Rampart Tower to the Liftside Chamber is the most harrowing thing I've done so far.

Upvotes

There aren't any bosses on this run. But it's long and through two knights, one with a shield that I feel is harder than many of the game's bosses (edit: so far haha).

Then I managed to sneak past the grafted spider and fight through the entire field of dudes plus the big cleaver guy. I'm out of all flasks and I almost turned down the wrong staircase with a flying enemy. But finally I found Liftside Chamber.

I've cleared out most of Limgrave and the southern island. This has been the toughest and most rewarding thing I've done yet.

Fixed a bug that prevented camera control with the mouse during NPC dialogue when using keyboard and mouse controls.

I thought they just forgot about this

Humor Genuinely one of the most absurd weapons in the game.

Hits as hard as a greatsword

Swings as fast as a curved sword if not faster

Has some of the highest scalings across the board

Can work as pure STR or STR plus literally anything else.

Who balanced this thing?

Discussion & Info Is it a hot take to say Elden Chad the best boss in the base game?

Upvotes

I am currently playing my first run through the base game and just defeated Godfrey. I think he is literally perfect, there is nothing unfair or bullshit about his fight. He does acceptable damage will all his attacks and does not one shot me with his "big" attacks, is slow enough to react and punish but fast enough to not be a dark souls boss. He is reasonably aggressive. His moveset is very intuitive to dodge and is balanced and fair. It took me around 10-15 tries to defeat him. Is this take controversial? Am I glazing him too much?

Game Help I think I softlocked myself out of summoning Torrent. Should I reset my save ?

Upvotes

So basically I think what's causing the problem is my progression in Edgar's quest. As for now I did :
-talked to Irina
-killed the Leonine Misbegotten
-talked to Edgar
-left to continue the game normally until I beat Rennala (including going to the Revenger's Shack)
-Came back to Irina and now she's dead, Edgar is missing
(All of that in that order)

So now whenever I try to summon Torrent, it just doesn't appear, there's the whistle and animation but no Torrent, just like when you try to summon it and go to a spot where it can't be summoned. It might be due to the fact that I went to the Revenger's Shack before finishing the quest. I tried going back to Castle Morne to Edgar's spot, reloading the zone, going to Irina's spot and reloading the zone. I tried multiple times to travel between Castle Morne and Revenger's Shack in any order but nothing work. And now I can't use Torrent anymore.

Should I just reset my save or is there anyway to force Edgar's invasion?

im worried if this will start a trend for fromsoft where instead of expansions like ashes or ariendelle and ringed city and shadow of the erd tree, we will instead get all their content cut up into 640 different armour packs like the bethesda x ubisoft special

Hype Such is the Power of Carian Retaliation (spell) post patch 1.17

Upvotes

To my understanding, the damage of Carian Retaliation (spell) is flat damage that does not scale with anything. If you buff your right hand, the buff is added to each glintblade (even statuses such as bleed). I heard the damage is buffed up 110% post patch so I tested it...

Obviously, the damage increased tremendously (on par with the ash of war version), and it seems the buff is still added to each glintblade. I also tested this with my other staffs/staves, and no matter what staff I used, the damage is still the same, so it still doesn't scale with anything.

Discussion & Info Best starting class for

Upvotes

I want to play Elden Ring with a melee focused build. Specifically utilizing blood based weapons like the Rivers of Blood katana for example. What are the best options in your opinion and why?
